Tessa Thompson has been lauded for her candidness about the bisexuality of her Thor: Ragnorak character Valkyrie, and now the actress is opening up about the fluidity of her own sexuality too.

鈥淚鈥檓 attracted to men and also to women,鈥 she told Net-a-Porter in a new profile while discussing the accepting environment of her home life. 鈥I can take things for granted because of my family 鈥 it鈥檚 so free and you can be anything that you want to be鈥If I bring a woman home, [or] a man, we don鈥檛 even have to have the discussion.鈥

The Creed star has been rumored in recent months to be dating singer Janelle Mon谩e, and while she did comment on their connection, she did so without any relationship specificity. 鈥淚t鈥檚 tricky,鈥 she said, 鈥渂ecause Janelle and I are just really private people and we鈥檙e both trying to navigate how you reconcile wanting to have that privacy and space, and also wanting to use your platform and influence.鈥

Mon谩e herself recently came out as pansexual, and Thompson鈥檚 involvement in the singer鈥檚 Dirty Computer album rollout only further drove the dating speculation. 鈥淲e love each other deeply,鈥 Thompson told Net-a-Porter. She said that when Mon谩e鈥檚 album was released, friends texted her to say they came out to their family because of the singer. 鈥淲e鈥檙e so close, we vibrate on the same frequency. If people want to speculate about what we are, that鈥檚 okay. It doesn鈥檛 bother me.鈥

Thompson has said in the past that her Thor character is bisexual, but any confirming scenes were ultimately edited out of the final film. It won鈥檛 be long before Marvel films do have more overt representation, though: Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said that future films will indeed have openly LGBTQ+ characters.
