Demi Lovato Helped Surprise This ‘American Idol’ Alum With a Proposal That Will Make You Weep
As rumors swirl around Demi Lovato’s love life, with the musician having been spotted out to lunch with ex Wilmer Valderrama just last week, she’s lending a little magic to the romantic endeavors of her pals American Idol alum Rayvon Owen and BF Shane Bitney Crone, helping the latter propose to his love onstage at her concert Friday night at The Forum in Inglewood, California.
In a series of videos posted to both mens’ accounts, Lovato, 25, can be seen Owen a hug before asking, “Who are you here with?”
“I’m here with my beau Shane Bitney Crone,” the singer answered while seeking him out in the crowd.
“Okay, so where’s your beau?” the “Sorry Not Sorry” crooner asked, adding, “Where’d beau go?” .
Before the reality contestant could answer, a trap door opened up from the floor before them, with Bitney Crone appearing on one knee.
Owen was clearly surprised, falling to the floor before finally composing himself enough for his fiancé to take his hand and begin a heartwarming speech.
“…For too long, we lived in fear and shame trying to hide who we are,” Crone said. “So I want to take this moment, in front of our friends, in front of thousands of people, to proudly say that I love you, and I’ll take care of you for the rest of my life.”
He then pulled out a ring and took a knee once more, popping the question to his beloved, who was so overcome with emotion, he could only shake out a yes in reply.
The Simply Complicated star held back as long as she could, hanging back as the couple shared a passionate kiss before rushing in to give them a big hug.
She then gave a tear-inducing speech of her own, choking up as she told the crowd, “…What some of you don’t know is that these are two of my really close friends and I’ve gotten to watch Shane go through so much and come out the other side such a strong person, who’s now found the love of his life. It’s just so beautiful.”
The moment ended with the songstress launching into the perfect song for the moment, aptly titled, “Yes.”
Both men also sounded off about their special moment online, with Owen writing, “Hands down the happiest night of my life. @shanebitneycrone, I am beyond excited and honored to spend the rest of my life with you. Thank you @ddlovato for making this a moment that I will absolutely never ever forget.”
Crone was equally grateful, writing, “@rayvonowen, I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you, and I beyond thrilled to officially call you my fiancé! You’ve made me a better man and I’ll forever be grateful to you for loving me unconditionally… I have to give a huge thank you to @ddlovato for being a supportive friend and for helping make last night possible. It was one of my greatest moments in life! I also want to thank you for all that you do for the LGBTQ+ community. Your heart, your voice, and your activism make everyone feel accepted, less alone, and more empowered, and more hopeful.”
