Gina Rodriguez’s Netflix Rom-Com ‘Someone Great’ Looks Like the Perfect Girls’ Night Movie
Well, we know what we’re doing on April 19. Netflix just debuted the trailer for Gina Rodriguez’s upcoming rom-com, Someone Great, and it looks like the perfect movie for a girls’ night in.
The Jane the Virgin star plays Jenny, an aspiring music journalist whose longtime boyfriend (Lakeith Stanfield) breaks up with her when she decides to leave New York to take her dream job across the country. Heartbroken, she turns to her two best friends, Erin (DeWanda Wise) and Blair (Brittany Snow).
“Basically I just really want you to call your place of work and tell them that you have your period or something, and then just come over to my apartment,” Jenny confesses through tears on a video chat with her girlfriends.
Naturally, Erin and Blair are there for her, but they have their work cut out for them when it comes to cheering her up. (From the looks of the trailer, they also have some personal drama of their own to deal with.) “I leave in a week and then I turn 30 and then I die, probably,” Jenny laments. “I need one last epic day with my girls.”
With that, the ladies embark on a final NYC adventure — complete with dancing, green juice mimosas, and the kind of memories that only best friends can make together — to help Jenny let go of the past and embrace her future.
“This is the end of an era,” she says wistfully. “Everything’s changing.”
Someone Great hits Netflix on April 19.
