The Brit + Co. Guide to the Summer Olympics, Vol. 1

We’ve got Olympics fever! While we patiently wait for Olympic organizers to announce whether or not all five Spice Girls will be performing at the Closing Ceremony, we’re amped on checking out this season’s boldest athletes from all over the world. And no, not everything we’re watching starts with “g” and ends with “ymnastics” – we promise. ;)

Here’s a day-by-day rundown of what we’ll be tuning into at Brit HQ this week. Seeing as the times listed below are London time, you can bet we’ll be watching most of these online after they happen. (Image credit: Chron.com)

4:30pm Men’s Team Gymnastics Final: Love those rings!

5:30pm Women’s Doubles Tennis, 2nd Round: Watching people watching tennis is sometimes just as entertaining as the sport itself.

3pm Women’s Synchronized Platform Diving: Synchronized diving is nothing short of amazing. Get into it!

3:25pm Women’s Individual Archery: You can thank Katniss of the Hunger Games and Merida of Brave for archery’s surge of popularity this year, especially for women.

4:30pm Women’s Team Gymnastics Preview: So what if Team USA didn’t pack a punch right away? We’ve still got our eyes on the prize.

9pm & 11pm Men’s and Women’s Beach Volleyball: Super tan dudes and dudettes bopping around at the beach? Yes please.

3pm Men’s Synchronized Springboard Final: More synchronized diving!!

4:30pm Men’s Individual All-Around Gymnastics: Now it’s time to let each of these ridiculously strong and fiesty dudes strut their stuff.

7:30-9pm Swimming!: From the Men’s 200m Breaststroke to Women’s 4x200m Freestyle, prepare yourself for more than one photo finish.

8:30pm Women’s Individual Sabre Fencing: Women. Fencing. What more do you need to know?

2-4pm Women’s Individual Archery: More archery for the wannabe Katniss’ out there.

4:30pm Women’s Individual All-Around Gymnastics: Watch as Team USA defies gravity every which way.

7:30-9pm Swimming!: This evening kicks off with the Men’s 50m Freestyle, then we’ve got Women’s 200m Breaststroke, Men’s 200m Backstroke, Women’s 200m Backstroke, Men’s 200m IM, Women’s 100m Freestyle, and close out the evening with the Men’s 100m Butterfly. Whew!

12pm-10pm Women’s Soccer: All day long!

7-9:25pm Track & Field time! This evening of events kicks off with the Women’s Shot Put and concludes with the 10,000m run.

2-4pm Women’s Trampoline Qualification and Finals: Didn’t know “trampoline” was an official Olympic sport? Neither did we, but we are pumped about it. All those summer afternoons spent “cracking the egg” have finally paid off.

7pm Men’s Hurdles!: This is one where the slow motion replay really pays off.

7:30pm Women’s Discus Throw: These women can haul a discus! Super strength is super impressive.

8pm Women’s and Men’s 4x100m Medley Relay: Before you head out to the bars, get in an hour or two of Olympic swimming.
