While we’re still trying to recover from the news that Meryl Streep is joining the cast of Big Little Lies, one of the series’ original stars, Zoë Kravitz, has just posted a selfie from the set as filming for the second suspenseful season begins.
The photo shows the 29-year-old once again with long hair, minimal (if any) makeup, and wearing what appears to be a tweed coat with a (faux?) fur collar. There’s not much else to go on from this glimpse other than the serious gaze Kravitz is directing at the camera. Is this a hint at the vibe we can expect from her character, Bonnie Carlson, in season two?
“Bonnie’s. Back. #BLL2,” the star simply-yet-provocatively captioned the pic.
Bonnie played a significant part in last season’s story (we won’t spoil it if you haven’t seen it yet), but much of her character’s backstory was still a mystery when we last saw her alongside Celeste Wright (Nicole Kidman), Madeline Martha Mackenzie (Reese Witherspoon), Jane Chapman (Shailene Woodley), and Renata Klein (Laura Dern). But now that we know the character is returning for season two, it seems likely that we’ll get to learn more about the woman Kravitz has brought life onscreen.
BLL fans are thinking along the same lines, leaving Instagram comments like, “I hope you have more screen time this season, queen” and “COME THRU BONNIE CARLSON.” If nothing else, it’s clear that the audience wants more Bonnie.
No premiere date has been announced yet for Big Little Lies season two, but it’s expected to return sometime in 2019.
