Why the 'Rebel Girls' Podcast is a Must-Listen for the Whole Fam

We're in the middle of a pandemic, we're in the middle of a moment of absolutely necessary social activism, and all the while we're trying to balance work, parenting and simply being a human. Like so many parents, I've been working to add more diversity to my kiddos' bookshelves, but I've also given in to more screen time than ever before. Ever since my first daughter was born, one of our favorite books has been Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls, so I was thrilled to find out that they have an equally incredible podcast featuring the stories of real female trailblazers and heroes.

Based on their book, the Rebel Girls Podcast is all about the extraordinary women throughout history who inspire us to dream bigger, aim higher and fight harder. Narrated by prominent present-day women like Jameela Jamil, Gayle King, Lindsey Vonn and Ashley Graham, this podcast is a great listen for the whole family. Plus, their most recent episodes are a great way for parents to teach children about the history of Black women and ignite important conversations around race and racism. Subscribe and listen over at RebelGirls.com.

"During this pivotal moment in time, it's more important than ever to me to help elevate the voices of Black activists who have paved the way to fight for a better future. I'm so moved by Josephine Baker's fearless and tireless work, both publicly and behind the scenes, to fight for racial justice and stand up for what's right. Josephine is the definition of a trailblazer--her grit and conviction should serve as a call to action for us all. I'm honored to help shine a light on her powerful legacy in partnership with Rebel Girls, and hope her story can help inspire the next generation to fight for change." — Ashley Graham

"I really love that Rebel Girls takes inspiring stories of women of all ages, socioeconomic backgrounds and races and highlights them as heroes for young girls. In Simone's case, she worked really hard and pushed herself to her highest potential to become one of the best gymnasts in the world." — Lindsey Vonn (Note: This episode comes out on July 28th!)

Head here to browse all three seasons of Rebel Girls. There are seriously SO many amazing stories to listen to. As if surprise dropping an extra 15 songs for The Tortured Poets Departmentwasn't enough, Taylor Swift fans are getting another new song this summer thanks to Gracie Abrams' new album The Secret of Us. The Eras Tour opener revealed the collaboration when she dropped her album track list May 13, and needless to say, the internet went crazy. The song will be released with the full album on June 21, 2024.

"Us. Feat @taylorswift," Gracie Abrams said in an Instagram story. "All I can tell you for now is that some of the most fun I've ever had in my whole entire life was writing this song together. Hands down. I am currently smiling and sweating thinking about it and I'll never get over the shock of seeing this one on the tracklist. You know how I feel."

Taylor Swift has been teasing "Us" since the release of TTPD thanks to a notebook with "Us" written across it — both at the library installation and in the "Fortnight" music video.

Gracie Abrams has talked about how much she loves Taylor Swift throughout her entire career, and the two quickly became friends! Gracie showed up to Taylor's birthday, and even got to sing her hit song "I Miss You, I'm Sorry" with Taylor during the Eras Tour after her opening set got canceled during the July 1 show in Cincinnati, Ohio.

“My set was canceled for safety reasons,” Gracie says on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. “Then Taylor texted me being like, ‘Hey, come out with me and do ‘I Miss You, I’m Sorry?” We ran it one time in her room and then did it there. I blacked out.”

“It’s a real masterclass to watch her do what she does,” she continues. “I felt like I was at college for this job. I watched every single one of her shows that I was lucky enough to open. I watched from every place possible in each stadium, just trying to pick up on how she’s able to do what she does.”

Are you excited for the new Gracie Abrams x Taylor Swift collab? I love Gracie's new song "Risk" so I can't wait to hear "Us"!

Joan Vassos, a 61 year-old school administrator, will star in the upcoming The Golden Bachelorspinoff as the Golden Bachelorette. She was a contestant on The Golden Bachelor's first season, but chose to leave the show to be with her daughter who was experiencing a medical emergency at the time.

The Golden Bachelor, Gerry Turner, shared his congratulations towards Joan via an Instagram post reading:

"Dear Joan, congratulations on being named the first ever Golden Bachelorette. You will be phenomenal as the new representative of a generation. From one Golden to another... relax, breathe, and enjoy. Gerry."

Winner of The Golden Bachelor, Theresa Nist, spread more love via Instagram Stories. She shared a few smiley photos of her and Joan together with the caption reading: "My dear friend, Joan, I am so excited for you!!"

Who will be part of "The Golden Bachelorette"?

There haven't been any official casting announcements for the rest of the The Golden Bachelorette cast yet. What we do know is that the season will start off with Joan Vassos as the Golden Bachelorette and 22 senior men looking to steal her heart and lock down an everlasting love by the end of it. ❤️

Impatient for The Golden Bachelorette to air? You can still get your fix of love, laughs, and a little bit of drama very soon – ABC also announced that a new season of The Bachelorette is coming in summer 2024!

How can I watch "The Golden Bachelorette"?

According to ABC, The Golden Bachelorette will air on ABC and be available to stream on Hulu the following day. Historically, the different installments of The Bachelor have aired on Thursdays at 8pm ET.

What is the cast of "The Golden Bachelor" up to now?

It just so happens that our most beloved contestants from The Golden Bachelor, Kathy and Susan, have been working on a podcast titled Bachelor Happy Hour: Golden Hour. They've posted tons of episodes dishing on The Golden Bachelor experience.

The pair definitely showed some real chemistry during the first-ever Golden Bachelor, and the podcast is a true testament to their friendship.

“We can finish each other's sentences,” Susan told PhillyVoice about Kathy. “We're night and day, but yet we're the same in a sense. We just roll off each other, and it's so easy.”

As far as the winners of The Golden Bachelor, Gerry and Theresa, things worked out for a bit, but they mutually decided to end their marriage in April 2024. Many speculated that they split because they had settled down in different places of the country and found it hard to relocate for love.

“We looked at homes in South Carolina, we considered New Jersey, and we just looked at homes after home,” Theresa said during an interview on Good Morning America, “but we never got to the point where we made that decision.”

How successful was "The Golden Bachelor"?

According to Variety, the first installment of The Golden Bachelor reached about 43.4 million viewers, making it ABC’s most-watched unscripted premiere on Hulu. The finale amassed 6.1 million viewers, deeming it the biggest episode in Bachelor history in nearly 3 years.

We had so much fun watching the very first installment of The Golden Bachelor, that we just can’t wait to see the roles reversed for The Golden Bachelorette. The hype is very real!

Simply put, Zoë Kravitz & Channing Tatum are just made for each other. The couple met while filming Blink Twice (Zoë directed, Channing starred), and after they went viral for that Brooklyn bike ride, the rest is history. Well, the trailer for Zoë's directorial debut is finally here and it looks absolutely INSANE. No matter how many times I watch the trailer I have no idea how it's going to end. Which, honestly, makes me more intrigued than ever. Whether you're a fan of crazy movies or you just want to bask in the glow of Zoë and Channing's love, here's everything you need to know about the new Channing Tatum movie. Read up on The 33 Most-Anticipated 2024 Movies to see what else is coming this year — it's a great lineup!

What movie is Zoë Kravitz directing?

Image via Amazon MGM Studios

The latest addition to the Zoë Kravitz movies list is Blink Twice, but it's actually not a movie she's starring in — Zoë's serving as director! The movie, as well as Zoë and Channing's involvement, was announced in June of 2021 and I'm so excited that we finally have a trailer.

What is Blink Twice?

Image via Amazon MGM Studios

Amazon MGM Studios' Blink Twice follows Frida (played by Naomi Ackie), a cocktail waitress who gets whisked away by the wealthy and intoxicating Slater King (Channing Tatum). It doesn't take long for Frida to get into Slater's good graces — or his private island. The more breathtaking sights Frida sees, and the more bubbly she drinks, the more she falls in love with the island. That is, until she realizes just how much terror is boiling under its beautiful surface. The combo of danger and edge with the dreamy island backdrop is totally giving The White Lotus and I can't wait to see how the action unfolds!

When is Blink Twice coming out?

Blink Twice hits theaters August 23, 2024. It's one of our most-anticipated summer movies for the year!

Who's in the Blink Twice cast?

Image via Amazon MGM Studios

In addition to Channing Tatum and Naomi Ackie, Blink Twice stars Christian Slater, Alia Shawkat, Geena Davis, Adria Arjona, Haley Joel Osment, Liz Caribel Sierra, Levon Hawke, Trew Mullen, Saul Williams, Cris Costa, Simon Rex, and Kyle MacLachlan.

Each of these actors can balance a grounded presence with absolute insanity, and I can't wait to see who ends up being a good guy and who ends up being more of a mastermind — unless, of course, everyone has a little bit of both in them.

How did Zoë Kravitz and Channing Tatum meet?

Zoë Kravitz and Channing Tatum met thanks to Blink Twice. However, they actually worked together before in 2017's The Lego Batman Movie (which is hilarious considering Zoë would later star opposite Robert Pattinson in 2022's The Batman). But since the movie was animated, they weren't actually onscreen together.
