BeautyCon isn’t your typical beauty convention. The city-hopping event, which posted up in LA yesterday, connects the biggest beauty influences around with thousands of their fans IRL for a day-long party filled with makeover booths, carnival rides and Insta-ready backdrops at every turn (we’ve never seen so many emoji balloons and quirky pool floats in one place!).
Seriously, there’s not a better way to meet your Internet idols who were doling out insider beauty tips left and right. Our Style Editor Kate Puhala and I grabbed some of the biggest names on the bill to dish on their favorite drugstore beauty buys and the products they just HAVE to splurge on.
Miss Milian, best known for her vocals, made her mark on the beauty industry this year. She hosted a panel at BeautyCon 2015, which focused on creativity — we, of course, were all ears.
Favorite Drugstore Beauty Buy: L’Oreal Voluminous Mascara ($8) because I can always count on it because it stays on and performs as well as expensive brands.
Top Beauty Product Splurge: I love Marc Jacobs Lovermac Lipstick ($30) because it is just lasts long and the colors are amazing!
Dulce Candy (yes, that’s her real name!!) has amassed over 1.9M subscribers to her YouTube channel and has a book coming out in August about finding your passion and creating success for yourself. Um, yes please! This year at BeautyCon, she offered #GirlProb advice on a panel focused on providing expert answers from the industry’s leading gals and guys.
Favorite Drugstore Beauty Buy: Revlon ColorStay Makeup foundation ($13)
Top Beauty Product Splurge: MAC Pro Longware Foundation ($32) really stays on all day long as well as photographs flawlessly.
Alba’s YouTube channel is focused on the intersection of health and beauty — we’re all about it and were super inspired by her. This beauty spoke at BeautyCon about how to become a #ladyboss and digital media sensation.
Favorite Drugstore Beauty Buy: Sheamoisture Raw Shea Butter Anti-Aging Moisturizer ($13) because it is the only thing that I could use from a drugstore that works but has more natural ingredients.
Top Beauty Product Splurge: Deva Curl Heaven In Hair Mask ($25)
Bethany has over 9 million YouTube channel subscribers and seems to be everywhere these days. The vlogger-turned-Dancing With the Stars star sat down with Cosmopolitan during BeautyCon and dished on her life and gave advice to aspiring mini-Motas.
Favorite Drugstore Beauty Buy: I love Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Balm ($5) because of the subtle color and how fun they are while making your lips feel so soft. I steer clear of the neon crazy colors and use the ones with a soft hint of color.
Teala is a top-notch selfie-taker, first of all, but more importantly, she has some seriously great knowledge about the beauty industry. She hosted an important panel at BeautyCon about the business of beauty — inside and out.
Favorite Drugstore Beauty Buy: Maybelline Volum Express The Falsies Mascara ($7) it is literally the holy grail and works so good!
Top Beauty Product Splurge: I love Make Up Forever Invisible Cover HD Foundation ($60) because it photographs so well and feels really good on my skin.
This gal from the Sunshine State shared her tips, tricks + straight-from-the-heart advice during BeautyCon’s #GirlProb panel. Her YouTube channel features everything from beauty tutorials to DIY how-tos.
Top Beauty Product Splurge: Concealer. A lot. I use Urban Decay Naked Skin ($39) and I buy a ton of different shades because I’m always tanning and I’m always in between different shades. (Photo via @jessismiles_)
The Fosters actress was another speaker during the #GirlProb panel. This brunette beauty — with a super strong brow game — is a budding beauty lady who we’ll be sure to keep our eyes on this year.
Favorite Drugstore Beauty Buy: I love CoverGirl obviously, that’s a must, they’re amazing have great stuff. I love their lipglosses and their lipsticks. They have this really, really great shiny one that’s been killing it.
Top Beauty Product Splurge: I splurge on foundation. Just because you don’t want one that breaks you out so that’s one — I don’t spend a lot on it — I just want to take care of my face on my days off so that’s something I definitely pay attention to. I use Makeup Forever, they have one that I use on set and I know it works for my skin so I always stick with that. (Photo via @baileemadison)
A familiar face in the beauty vlogger space, Andrea was talking with fans + industry peeps about what she knows best: all things beauty and how-to’s. She dished on the #GirlProb panel while in LA at BeautyCon.
Favorite Drugstore Beauty Buy: Fit Me Foundation by Maybeline is my favorite drugstore buy.
Top Beauty Product Splurge: To splurge, I’m gonna splurge on mascara. Right now I’m using the newest from Benefit, it’s just really soft and I can reapply it easily and make it thicker. (Photo via @andreaschoice)
Maddi has a cool style we were swooning over this weekend — it all worked and looked fab. This YouTuber has over 850K subscribers, so everyone took notice as she spoke on the #GirlProb panel.
Favorite Drugstore Beauty Buy: Neutrogena SkinClearing Liquid Makeup, ($15) that’s great stuff. It has good coverage and it helps clear your skin while you wear it.
Top Beauty Product Splurge: Splurge item is Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz ($21) or Dip Brow Pomade ($18) any of their eyebrow products are amazing. Eyebrows are so important — they frame your face — so it’s important to splurge on that stuff. (Photo via @madisenrosebeauty1)
This gorgeous gal is seriously inspiring. She has over 650K subscribers on her YouTube channel and spoke on a panel at BeautyCon about defining beauty. We loved her honest, smart and thoughtful insights about the industry as a whole.
Kate has totally reimagined what makeup is with her launch of Mr. Kate BeautyMarks, hand-sketched designs that are applied to the face and body. You can watch Kate’s videos for inspo on just about anything — from beauty to decorating to funky how-tos.
Favorite Drugstore Beauty Buy: I mean this is probably everybody’s but the L’Oreal Voluminous Mascara ($5) is definitely the best drugstore mascara, it just works as well as the fancy ones. I think it works as well as the YSL, which is my other favorite — it’s voluminous, it says it!
