Brit Kit Collabs: Meet Victoria Hudgins of A Subtle Revelry
We’re big fans of the lifestyle and food blog, A Subtle Revelry, at Brit HQ. This holiday season, we’re excited to be teaming up with Victoria Hudgins to create an exclusive kit as part of Brit Kit Collabs.
What are Brit Kit Collabs? Glad you asked! We teamed up with eight of our favorite makers, bloggers and designers to create a brand new set of nine exclusive Brit Kits, just in time for the holidays. Head to the shop to check ’em all out, and read on to learn all about Victoria Hudgins of A Subtle Revelry.
You can get Victoria’s Geometric Candle Holders Kit right here in the shop for just $25! Oh, and don’t forget to check out our stacked candle holders tutorial for more creative inspiration. Now, let’s meet this maker!
First things first, tell us a little bit about yourself and your company’s mission?
I am an avid believer of revelry and the need to experience it daily. A Subtle Revelry exists to inspire and teach others how to do that – for the big birthdays, and the everydays.
Why did you decide to start A Subtle Revelry?
Because I wanted to share my desire to celebrate with others in a way that was artistic, original and inspiring.
When did you first realize you love to make? When did you realize you could do this full-time?
When I was a kid! I’ve always been into crafting and celebrating – I just finally found the right outlet for sharing it! I realized my blog had moved from a space to pursue a hobby to a career a couple years ago. Seeing so many new readers come along over the years and so many still coming — inspires me to keep crafting and keep celebrating everyday.
What’s one piece of advice you’d share with other makers?
Try something new. Almost all of our blog growth has come from this piece of advice. Launch a new series, learn a new craft. Just get your hands dirty and try something fun! It will often lead you places you never dreamed.
What other creative hobbies do you have?
Other hobbies? HA! I’m a blogger and a mom. There’s not much time for other hobbies ;) However when I do have time off I love nothing more than hosting a dinner party and staying up way to late drinking cocktails and talking theology with our friends.
The holidays are… filled with small moments, (and a few big ones too!) when crazy of life slows down and the party of life becomes more real.
My favorite holiday tradition is… playing hookey with my kids. They each get one day off from school in December that we play hookey together – have lunch, do something fun, and go shopping for their presents. It’s become such a sweet tradition over the past couple years.
No holiday meal is complete without… CAKE! No matter what holiday it is, cake is always the right answer to that question.
My favorite thing to make during the holidays are… eggnog martinis, fires, and sugared cranberries.
My favorite holiday memory is… getting engaged to my love. Gosh… 13 years ago :)
Deck the halls with… bubble gum! We made a garland out of it last year – so bright, festive and fun.
My favorite holiday movie is… Elf… all the way.
All I want for the holidays is… gah, those kids faces when they open their presents. No present beats that.
My favorite way to spread holiday cheer is… hosting parties and celebrating with our friends.
