Cardi B Reveals She and Offset Have Split: ‘I Guess We Grew Out of Love’
Cardi B and rapper Offset have called it quits after one year of marriage. She announced the split in an Instagram video on Tuesday, December 4.
“So everybody been bugging me, and you know I’ve been trying to work things out with my baby father for a hot minute now,” Cardi said. “We are really good friends and we are really good business partners. You know, he’s always somebody that I run to to talk to, and we got a lot of love for each other, but things just haven’t been working out between us for a long time.”
The “I Like It” rapper did not give a detailed reason for the split, but said that the two had grown apart. “It’s nobody’s fault. I guess we grew out of love, but we are not together anymore,” she continued.
“It might take time to get a divorce and I’m going to always have a lot of love for him because he is my daughter’s father,” Cardi concluded her video message.
Offset, best known as one-third of the rap group Migos and who is scheduled to release his debut solo album in December, responded to Cardi’s video, writing, “Y’all won,” in the comments.
Some fans don’t seem convinced that the breakup announcement is real and have taken to Cardi’s Instagram comments to suggest that it could be a prank for fun or to promote Offset’s upcoming album. In a recent New York Times interview, Offset also dropped a hint that the pair could be working on releasing a joint album. “Me and her? We haven’t even dropped an album yet,” he said. “That’s a whole other realm.”
Cardi and Offset revealed in June 2018 that they had secretly married in November 2017. In July, the couple welcomed a daughter, Kulture Kiari Cephus, just three months after Cardi revealed that she was expecting during a performance on Saturday Night Live.
