Donut + Ice Cream + Sprinkles = Your New Favorite OTT Dessert!
When it comes to over-the-top desserts, the Aussies are leading the way and showing the rest of us how it’s done. From intricately decorated cookies and milkshakes served in lightbulbs (yes, lightbulbs!), to cotton candy ice cream cones, Australia is always outdoing itself with its new incredible food trends. Well, here’s my own version of an OTT dessert — a funfetti donut ice cream sandwich! With only four ingredients, it’s really easy to put together, but it’s unbelievably delicious. Don’t be stingy with the sprinkles — the more, the better!
Ingredients:
- 4 pink frosted donuts with sprinkles
- 4 large scoops vanilla ice cream
- rainbow sprinkles
- strawberry sauce
Instructions:
1. Cut the donuts in half, as you would a bagel.
2. Place a large scoop of ice cream on the bottom half of each donut, and smooth it out a little (it’s easiest if you use slightly softened ice cream). Press some sprinkles into the ice cream, around the sides.
3. Drizzle with strawberry sauce.
4. Replace the tops of the donuts and serve immediately.

You can let your ice cream sandwiches get as messy as you like. Personally, I think a few unruly drips of sauce make these all the more enjoyable, so I didn’t hold back! You could even drizzle some more sauce over the top, if you like.
Oh, and the only thing better than a funfetti donut ice cream sandwich? Two funfetti ice cream sandwiches!
