Here’s How to Vacay in the Bahamas Just Like Reese Witherspoon
Reese Witherspoon knows how to vacay. The uber busy actress, entrepreneur and mom of three proves that she works hard and plays hard — which is oh-so-evident on her family’s recent trip to the Bahamas. And she doesn’t just go on any vacation, she does it in crazy awesome style. Wanna get away just like Reese, cute tote bag and all? We’ve got the scoop on how to steal her vacay for your own crew right here.
Stay here: Tropical paradise? Yes, please. Reese Witherspoon and the fam apparently rested, relaxed and had the best time ever at the resident community of Baker’s Bay Golf and Ocean Club on Great Guana Cay in the Bahamas. Baker’s Bay has an oceanfront golf course, a family beach club and a world-class spa and fitness facility. But don’t start planning your stay at this private club community: It’s tres exclusive and is for property-owners only (past vacationers include Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, as well as Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady). Instead, book a room at the nearby Flip Flops on the Beach, the Dolphin Beach Resort or book a house at Abaco Luxury Resorts.
Wear this: For some quality beach time fun, Reese slipped on her Draper James Floral Seersucker Sweetheart Dress in chili red ($225). Told you she vacays in style.
Or wear this: Reese kept cool in her Draper James Carmichael Cover-Up in navy Vidalia vine (on sale $148). If you’re lovin’ the blue floral print dress she’s wearing in the very top photo, that’s another Draper James number, their Limited Edition Vacation Dress. They “made this daisy-covered silk maxi especially for Reese to wear on her summer vacation,” the site says. You can wear one on your vacay too. ($325 )
Tote this: You need a place to stow all your beach gear, like your sunscreen, sunglasses and fun-in-the-sun gear. Pull a Reese and grab her Draper James Straw St Simon Bag ($275).
Drink this: For a refreshing start to the day, grab a great big coconut and drink its delicious nectar direct from the source. You can sip it like Starbucks, with your name written Sharpied on it.
Do this: When in the Bahamas, snorkeling is a MUST! A short distance from the shore you can spot an array of brightly colored tropical fish, schools of minnows, sea cucumbers, snappers, baby barracuda, huge puffer fish, ocean trigger fish, southern stingrays and sometimes even a dolphin.
And do this: Take a long, leisurely walk. If you have an adorable little boy to take along with you, that’s a bonus.
Buy this: Who doesn’t want a gigantic beach ball to pass around? Apparently, Reese wanted one so bad she had one sent overnight to her. If you’re in the market for one too, you can pick a similar one up from Gadget Bargains ($100).
