Jenna Fischer Had to Do an Interview in a Towel After a Last-Minute Wardrobe Malfunction
We’ve all had that nightmare where we show up to school or work or an important event naked or, um, significantly underdressed. But that nightmare became a reality for Jenna Fischer when she had to wear a towel to do an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Fischer’s attire was a surprise to both the host and his audience when she appeared on stage on Monday night to promote her new show, Splitting Up Together. She obviously hadn’t planned to wear a towel with a pair of jeans and high heels, but a wardrobe malfunction backstage forced her to improvise.
“I waited a little too long to get dressed and then my zipper broke and I panicked,” she admitted. She even had the burgundy dress she planned to wear on a hanger draped across the chair beside her as proof.
“I am a Missouri girl and the show must go on,” she continued. “I’ve never been more comfortable. … I am mentally a little freaking out that I’m on a talk show in a towel, but I’m physically very comfortable.”
We have to give her props — she wore that towel with confidence. And while we’re sure she would have rocked that dress, too, we love that she made the best of an unfortunate situation.
Kimmel, for his part, was somewhat thrown by the surprising turn of events, but joked, “I’m not complaining, for sure. I feel like I ran into you at the spa. Like we’re at a destination wedding together and then you went to get a massage and I’m waiting to get a massage and you came out and I’m like, ‘Oh, hey, how are you doing?’ And it’s a little bit weird.”
Fischer said she wished that were the real reason for her attire. But at least she had a great topic of conversation for her interview!
