I’m a big fan of bright, colorful, over-the-top makeup. Dramatic lips, eyelid art and festival face paint influence my personal beauty style. My makeup case — err, well, my piles and piles of poorly organized makeup — contains a lot of really fun stuff, from ultra-vivid eyeshadows, colored mascaras and lots and lots of hyper-pigmented liquid lipsticks, which makes coming up with quirky looks really enjoyable.
But, despite how many products I have, I sometimes ignore the “eye to mouth, not lip to eye” makeup rule and use my lip products on my eyes. And I LOVE the bright effect. Yup, lipstick isn’t just for your lips (or cheeks), people.
I love double-duty beauty products, and using your lipstick as eyeliner is a great way to multiply your makeup case. With so many great lipsticks at so many different price points, the eyeliner rainbow just got a whole lot bigger too. I feel confident walking down the street or heading to a concert sporting a double pop of color, but you can also benefit from this beauty hack by sporting that beautiful color you just can’t find in the eyeshadow section on your eyes only.
All you need to achieve this look is lipstick and an eyeliner brush. For this look, I used NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Amethyst ($7) and a fine paint brush. To create a double-lined effect, line your eyes with black eyeliner in the shape you want first. Then dip the fine brush into the barrel of the liquid lipstick and carefully trace above your eyelashes. Voilà!
