Here’s the One Dress Style You Need to Ditch for Summer
Nicole Romano has a pretty cool job. I mean, who wouldn’t love playing dress-up on the reg with stunners like Rihanna, Zoe Saldana, Rita Ora, Blake Lively, and Kate Hudson? Hi! We would! Not to mention she was also mentored by mega-legends Nicole Miller and Patricia Field and has had her designs featured in the Sex and the City movies. Now the esteemed stylist and jewelry designer has a sparkly new collection, so clearly, we had to quiz her on her favorite trends for summer, how to choose the best pieces for different looks, and her favorite accessory moments, ever. Heed her advice and shop her new collection here.
Brit + Co: What inspired you to create this collection?
Nicole Romano: The latest collection titled “Walker” is inspired by New York’s architecturally significant historical and cultural periods — specifically Art Deco and The Gothic Revival. These buildings are treasures that characterize the city’s neighborhoods with their tapered tops, steel spires, terra cotta, stone, and glass details. The distinctive ornamentation is reflected in the jewelry’s unique mixture of materials, the flowing rows of herringbone chains, and the linear bursts of crystal-studded statement pieces. B+C: What’s been your favorite celeb jewelry moment of all time?
NR: Vogue contributor and fashion celebrity Erica Pelosini Leeman’s wedding in Capri was hands down my favorite. It was the perfect combination of Italian essence and high fashion. Not overly formal, but supremely fabulous. (Photos via Instagram)
B+C: As for fashion trends, what’s in and what’s out?
NR: In: super stripes. Out: club dresses.
B+C: What are some pieces that are perfect for a summer wedding?
NR: The Huntington Earrings ($275) because hoops are so in right now and these delicate crystals dress up any ensemble. (Photo via Nicole Romano)

B+C: If you could own any iconic piece of jewelry in the world what would it be and why?
NR: I am in love with this ruby drop ring by Ara Vartanian. I am very selective about rings and only wear ones with extreme significance such as my family crest and my father’s gold stacked rings. So when I am strongly drawn to a ring, it’s for a good reason.
B+C: What fashion lessons have you learned from working with Nicole Miller and Patricia Field?
NR: Be a pioneer and never ever, ever follow. (Photo via Nicole Romano)
B+C: What are your best tips for choosing jewelry based on your look?
NR: Start with jewelry! Choose for your personality and what you’re feeling at that moment and everything else will fall into place. Jewelry should be the strongest representation of oneself. (Photo via Nicole Romano)
