Blast Off to the 21st Century With This BFF Zenon Costume
I think I can speak for almost all 2000s kids when I say — Disney Channel original movies were LIFE. The last Friday of every month was dedicated to inviting friends over, making pizza bagels, eating pizza bagels while watching the newest original movie and then freaking out over the three-minute preview of next month’s original film. If you missed out on this amazing time of life, I highly recommend that you relive some of these films — my favorites were Smart House, Cadet Kelly and, of course, Zenon! Let’s just say, Zenon was the girl that everyone wanted to be — lived in space, had a holographic teacher and became BFF with her favorite popstar Proto Zoa. Grab your stellar BFF and get ready to dress up like these space station queens for Halloween.
The key to this costume is hot pink spandex :) We ordered matching Trendy U Neon Leggings ($13) and Doublju Long Sleeved Shirts ($11) from Amazon, but if Amazon Prime isn’t in your life, hop on over to American Apparel.
For this 2049 futuristic costume, you’ll need pink leggings and a long-sleeved base with a blue vest and skirt (we bought this Blue Age Jean Vest [$18] and Abaday Denim Skirt [$16]) layered on top. Add sequin detailing to the shoulders of the vest (because it’s the 2000s and everything has sequins), and finish it off with a chain belt and a triangle and circle statement necklace.
No wonder Proto Zoa made Zenon his supernova girl — she is too cute and stellernarious!
“Zetus Lapetus mom! I am thirteen; I can handle myself!”
Life would be hideous major if you didn’t have your BFF with you in space. Thank god Zenon and Nebula have each other.
What we love the most about Nebula’s costume is her killer hair. Slinkies as ponytail holders sounds semi-painful, but totally space legit at the same time. Layer a bright purple vest and skirt on top of your hot pink base (we bought this Xposur Zone Down Vest [$24] and Nearkin Midi Skirt [$12]), and finish off by using felt to create the 2000s signature initial detailing.
