Alabama Shakes Lead Singer Brittany Howard Is Your New Starbucks DJ
If you love the music that comes on while you’re chilling in your local Starbucks, then you’re about to get a whole lot happier, we guarantee it! For the very first time, Starbucks is handing the DJ duties over to a pro musician, and things are about to get seriously funky. Helping to launch the Guest DJ Series is Alabama Shakes’ own lead singer (and beautifully bad-a$$ lady) Brittany Howard.
While you’re enjoying your latté or Frappuccino, you’ll be treated to the tunes chosen for the first of four curated playlists from Ms. Howard, which include songs from The Who, The Velvet Underground and Laura Mvula. Niiiice!
If you’re into the groove, then you can catch the playlist on Starbucks’ Spotify profile, as well as through the Starbucks mobile app under “Now Playing.”
“We love music and we love learning about music,” said Holly Hinton, Starbucks director of curation, on their website. “The Guest DJ series lets us ask artists we’ve worked with for many years about what music inspires them so that we can bring new and interesting creative content to our customers.”
Additional playlists curated by Guest DJ artists will be released on Fridays through to May 6, and we can’t wait to see (and hear) what’s coming!
