Kanye West Thinks 3D Printing Is Bad for Fashion, Here’s Why He’s Wrong

Kanye has never been afraid of saying something a little crazy (re: his entire VMAs acceptance speech). And while we’re still not totally sure if what he said a few weeks ago was insane or genius, we do know that he usually sticks by his comments, which is why we’re so baffled about what he said yesterday when he made a rare appearance on Keeping Up With the Kardashians.

In a recent episode, Kanye toured Armenia’s Tumo Centre for Creative Technologies. When introduced to their 3D printers Kanye said,”This is what I’m afraid of – because the Internet destroyed the music industry and now, this is what we’re afraid of right now with the textile industry.” He went on to say: “there will come a time when people are making their shoes at home.” The tour guide pointed out that although this technology exists, real design skills are still required to make anything worthwhile but Kanye seemed to stand by his idea that the fashion industry is ultimately doomed.

We got in touch with the founder of Electroloom, Aaron Rowley to see if Kanye’s fears are founded. If you haven’t heard of Electroloom yet (or you weren’t at Re:Make), it’s a new technology that’s making big waves as the world’s first ever 3D fabric printer.

Aaron stated out by saying that he understands the comparison between music and the increasingly tech-heavy world of fashion but argues that it’s important to keep in mind all the new opportunity that has come to the music industry thanks to the Internet. Using Kanye’s analogy, he told us: “The Internet – particularly tools like YouTube and Kickstarter – have become extremely powerful platforms for musicians and artists to promote themselves and showcase their talent without having to ‘break in’ to the industry. When systems evolve, there will be those that praise it and those that deride it, so his [Kanye’s] fears don’t really surprise me.”

Aaron is well-aware that Electroloom and 3D printing may eventually result in people printing their own clothing and shoes at home, but he makes sure to add that – similar to tech innovations like YouTube or Soundcloud – new talent will also emerge from this. “More people will have the chance at expressing their creativity, developing a talent and breaking into the fashion space. Developing this technology is really about giving people access to the clothing paradigm,” he tells us. “Clothing is a really intimate part of our daily lives, considering that we wear it nearly all day. And yet, it’s rare that we ever have a say in how clothes look, other than through our purchases. Fundamentally, we want people to be able to enjoy and explore the creative process of fashion.”

While Aaron doesn’t agree with Kanye on a grand scale he does leave us with a final thought to chew on. “There are countless people in fashion that have the exact opposite opinion of Kanye — they are inspired and eager to see such a future fully realized,” he says. “But we shouldn’t ignore his fears because there is still a human side to fashion that may change and I think that is worth paying attention to.”

Temporary hair dye should only last a week or a couple weeks at max depending on how often you wash your hair. On the Sally Beauty website, it says, "Temporary hair color does not penetrate the cortex or the hair. Instead, it coats the outside of the hair shaft with color that washes out in one or two shampoos." So just a couple of washes and there you have it; your hair is as good as new!

It’s applied like a conditioning mask and lasts 5-30 washes. This might be a better choice for those who want a bit more longevity without committing to a permanent color." Well, question no more – below, a comprehensive timeline of Timothée and Kylie’s relationship, which some are calling a “hot romance,” and others deeming it more “fun and uncomplicated.”

January 2023

Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner reportedly met for the first time in January 2023. The pair was spotted together at a John Paul Gaultier fashion show during Paris Couture Week, and their interaction was published (and subsequently amplified) by blind items outlet, Deuxmoi, via Instagram Stories.

This came not long after Jenner had made her official break with longtime boyfriend, Travis Scott. They still share two children, Stormi, 5, and Aire Webster, 1.

April 2023

The aforementioned dating rumors began after a few instances between the couple went public. First, one of Jenner’s cars was photographed parked outside of Chalamet’s home in Beverly Hills.

Later in April, the pair also allegedly grabbed tacos from a stand together in Santa Monica, enjoying them in the backseat of Jenner’s Range Rover.

At the time, an insider told Peoplethat the two were “getting to know each other.” Another told Us Weekly that they had only hung out “a couple of times” and “things [weren’t] that serious.” Despite it all, Jenner reportedly “[liked] what she [saw]” and her and Timmy had “good chemistry.”

Between April, May, and June of 2023, the couple were simply enjoying “casually seeing each other,” according to Entertainment Tonight.

August 2023

Gasp!

Timothée and Kylie supposedly broke up – though sources covering the news were contradicting one another.

While Life & Stylereported their alleged breakup, TMZ dispelled the claims, with one insider affirming that “everything is cool between the two [and] they're still an item.”

Throughout the fall, their relationship remained very casual and the duo was staying out of the public eye.

September 2023

All of that brings us to Labor Day 2023, when Timmy and Kylie popped up extremely publicly at the Beyoncé concert. This was the first time we saw some PDA from the two, and it sent the internet into a spiral.

Many a social media post was made, documenting the couple’s kissing and hugging escapades in a VIP area.

The pair is "incredibly happy" as they both show support to one another's careers and endeavors.

“He is very supportive of her career and she of his,” the source said. “They both try to attend important events for each other.”

The inside source also noted that Timothée is “in awe of everything [Kylie] is accomplishing” and “especially thinks she is an amazing mom.” So sweet!

January 2024

Timothée and Kylie attended the 81st Golden Globes (their first awards show as a couple) on January 7. Timmy was nominated for Best Leading Actor in a Musical or Comedy for his role in the chart-toppingWonka. The two didn't step out together on the red carpet, but Kylie was there to support Timothée during the rest of the ceremony.

The pair was spotted getting real comfortable together, even sharing a quick kiss that ended up on screen. So cute!

Turning 21 is one of the first big milestones of adulthood. It's the age you finally become legal and it seems to cement the fact that you're officially out of your teens. One of the best birthday trip ideas I think makes this age so special is taking a road trip with your besties.

I didn't go to NYC for the first time until I was 23, but it's still a core memory that I love to revisit. I definitely a typical tourist taking in all the sights and amazing food, but it was so much fun. I initially stayed in Manhattan the first time I went, but later visited Queens, SoHo, and Brooklyn.

Some fans weren't so thrilled to see the two together though and they weren't afraid to express their opinions. But, this only prompted Selena to leave more comments that defended her relationship with Benny.

People grabbed a screenshot of one of the comments Selena responded that revealed the couple had been together for a while. "Not mad. It’s been 6 months bb. I will always defend my friends, family and fans till the day I die," she wrote. They even shared another screenshot from Selena's Instagram Story that showed her wearing a "B" ring on one of her fingers.

Soon after that, Selena shared a photo carousel on Instagram that included some of her favorite moments in New York and Benny Blanco can be seen in BTS moments. The last picture of the carousel features them sharing a kiss in a black and white photo that basically confirms the responses the singer had for fans.

The Only Murders in the Building star has been seen smiling in every pic she posts which indicates she's genuinely happy in her relationship. A source hinted to People that the two are doing well. "It’s a very serious relationship, and they’re making long distance work while she’s in New York for work commitments," they said.
