Bella Hadid Just Channeled a Modern Day Marilyn Monroe on the Red Carpet in Venice
There’s no shortage to the number of stars who have paid tribute to ‘50s fashion icon Miss Marilyn Monroe, AKA Norma Jean Mortenson, throughout the years. Just this past March, in fact, Kendall Jenner gave it her best shot in a lingerie-clad spread for LOVE magazine.
This weekend, it was Bella Hadid’s turn, as the 20-year-old model strutted her stuff in Venice for a Bulgari fête clad in a white Alexandre Vauthier frock that had all of Marilyn’s sex appeal — but with a modern twist.
Whereas Monroe’s famous white-hot Seven Year Itch gown (which sold for $4.6 million at auction, coming in just under the $4.8 million her “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” dress netted) featured a flared, pleated skirt, Hadid’s was more streamlined, starring a thigh-high slit and plenty of Bulgari diamonds thrown in for added oomph (’cause diamonds are a girl’s best friend, after all).
The Nike spokesmodel showed off the stunning style, perfectly paired with combed-over pageboy waves, over on Instagram, saying, “Venice is so beautiful. Feeling so lucky to be here with my amazing #BulgariFamily for #BulgariFesta. An incredible night with incredible people. Thank you!”
As Elle pointed out, it’s a style that’s quickly becoming a signature for Hadid, popping up everywhere from the Met Gala to Cannes.
There’s no word on whether or not she had any “accidental” sidewalk grate moments, but either way, she certainly looked ready to stun.
Bella, Bella!
