Busy Philipps Wore Her Mom’s Wedding Dress As a Gift for Her Parents’ 50th Anniversary
Mother’s Day has arrived, with moms the world over receiving some stellar gifts and spending some major QT with their loved ones (might we suggest these seven heartfelt Netflix flicks?). But Busy Philipps’ mom may have gotten the best Mother’s Day present of all. For her parents’ 50th wedding anniversary, the Cougar Town star not only booked a family vacation aboard a Disney cruise line, she fulfilled one of her mother’s lifelong dreams by wearing her wedding dress.
“As a surprise to my mom, I brought her wedding dress on this cruise and wore it to brunch this morning,” she wrote on Instagram. As the actress explained, it wasn’t TOO embarrassing, though, thanks to the dress’s cute cut. “Lucky for me they got married in the ‘60s and it’s a super cute A-line mini, so I wasn’t walking around the boat in a floor-length wedding dress!”
The move seemed to go over well, with Mama Philipps bursting into tears upon sight. “I felt like Ross from Friends,” she says. “SORRY MONICA! (AKA my sister @phoenixlalal).”
Philipps also gave us a throwback shot of her mom wearing the dress on her big day, saying, “#TBT to 1967!!! HAPPY 50TH ANNIVERSARY TO MY PARENTS Barbara and Joe! And even though I was skeptical, this cruise has been the sweetest gift for their anniversary and as you can tell, we’ve all been having the best time! #disneycruise.”
It wasn’t the only noteworthy outfit she donned on the trip, either. Girl went full-on Minnie while sitting on the ship’s steps for her last night on the cruise, albeit a rather sad one — the 37-year-old was lamenting the fact that her pilot, The Sackett Sisters, may not get picked up (though fans sent her some consolation dollars, just in case).
Sad or not, we think Michelle Williams’ bestie looks adorable. Chin up, BB – with your talent, we’re sure they’ll be plenty more kickass pilots in your future yet!
