She might be forever married to Cory Matthews in our minds, but in real life, Boy Meets World and Girl Meets World alum Danielle Fishel — AKA Topanga — is engaged to boyfriend Jensen Karp! The actress made the announcement in an Instagram post detailing the adorable (and awkward!) proposal.
“I woke up today thinking it would be a normal day and it was anything but normal,” Fishel captioned an Instagram photo of her and Karp. “I put on my [LA restaurant] Genghis Cohen t-shirt and went to see Jensen at work, where I proceeded to screw up a very romantic marriage proposal by being too efficient (this is very on brand for me).” She didn’t detail exactly how she might have made things go awry, but it looks like everything worked out in the end. “The future Mr. and Mrs. Karp are now engaged and no one is more excited than I am,” she noted.
Karp, producer of the TBS musical competition show Drop the Mic (which originated as a sketch on The Late Late Show with James Corden) and author of the book Kanye West Owes Me $300, also celebrated the news on Instagram.
“We got engaged today. I don’t have anything witty or funny to say to accompany this picture,” he wrote, before sharing a super sweet detail about how they met. “She is just the greatest person in the world and to imagine someone I went to high school with was always my person, is remarkable. You never know.”
Fishel and Karp celebrated on set at Drop the Mic, and the show’s co-host Hailey Baldwin documented it on her Instagram story. “We have a Drop the Mic engagement!!” she captioned a cute video of the newly engaged couple giving a short toast.
Fishel was previously married to Tim Belusko for two years, but the two quietly called it off in late 2015. It’s unclear when exactly Karp and his bride-to-be started dating, but he seemingly made things Instagram official in June 2017. Congrats to the happy couple!
