And not just the runway looks that give us an excuse to take a beauty risk or two. The subtler, more toned-down beauty creations on models at NYFW are really the cherries on top — you know, the ones that any girl could wear in a flash — and there are plenty of them to pick from. Think: a chic updo for the boardroom, major nail inspo for an upcoming gala or eye makeup that will slay on date night. 1. A Bold Lip + Natural Makeup at J.Crew: With all the vibrant color stories and pattern play seen at J.Crew, a bold pink-red lip only seemed fitting. As a rule of thumb, an unstoppable Jenna Lyons-inspired pout will always do you right. (Photo via Slaven Vlasic/Getty)

3. Subtle Sparkle and Defined Lower Lashes at Jenny Packham: A sparkly iridescent eye shadow combined with well-defined lower lashes made for the perfect after-hours approved look. You could totally rock this almost-bare-faced style for a black tie affair. (Photo via Neilson Barnard/Getty)

4. Color Block Nails + a Rosy Glow at Rebecca Minkoff: Created using Essie’s spring 2016 collection, these color block digits already have us crushing hard for spring. The retro palette (think: punchy reds and peaches) will be the perfect complement to all your summer whites, especially when worn with a glow from matching blush. (Photo via Thos Robinson/Getty)

NOAM GALAI

5. Minimal Makeup at Runa Ray: The lineup of models at Runa Ray’s fall preview is inspiring us to do less. Ditch the heavy liners and contouring for an all-natural look that can be achieved with just a light foundation and berry-colored lip stain. Add a subtle pop to your look by applying a faint shimmer to the corners of your eyes. (Photo via Noam Galai/Getty)

6. Brushed-Through Brows + Sublte Smokey Eye at Thomas Wylde: Between the seductive brows, subtle smokey eye and ultra-shiny locks, this look could easily take you from desk-to-drinks. Keep lips nude and matte to play up all that highlighter on your lids. (Photo via Frazer Harrison/Getty)

polished-pony-tail

7. Polished Ponytails at Karigam: No longer restricted to cheerleaders, sleek ponytails are officially on the comeback. For a minimalist twist, wrap a strand of hair around the elastic band. (Photo via @nyfw)

alexander-wang

8. Fierce Red Hair at Alexander Wang: A little bit punk, a lot edgy and not at all pastel: It doesn’t get much more avant-garde than this short ‘do that’s been dyed a fierce shade of red. Rest assured that this is one sartorial risk that won’t go unnoticed. (Photo via @fashionista_com)

twiggy-lashes

9. Twiggy Lashes + Nude Lips at Baja East: Coupled with a nude lip and slicked-down hair, the model’s stark spider lashes were serious #goals. While they may not be practical on a day-to-day basis, a set of falsies on top illuminated by high-volume mascara would look ah-mazing for an upcoming GNO. (Photo via @nyfw)

tucked-in-hair

10. Chic Tucked in Hair at Hanley: Enter the #lazygirl way to look effortlessly chic with little to no effort. Simply tuck your hair into a turtleneck or blazer for a non-fussy look with a Parisian touch. (Photo via @fredericfekkai)

11. Smoky Eyes + Sleek Ponytails at Vivienne Hu: It’s official: We want to join Vivienne Hu’s girl gang. Who knew that kohl-rimmed eyes and sleek ponies could look this good? Pair with a pussy-bow blouse or black jumpsuit for a model- off-duty look. (Photo via Fernando Leon/Getty)

12. Minimalist Grunge Mani at Baja East: Among perfectly polished tips and glossy topcoats, Baja East opted for a considerably more grunge-inspired mani that took on the appearance of black graffiti and simple lines. In fact, they ditched the nail polish all together — it’s almost as though they took a Sharpie at the last-minute to create minimalist tattoo-like representations. (Photo via Thos Robinson/Getty)

painted-tips

13. Just the Tips at Cushnie Et Ochs: The consensus is in: Colored French tips will be sticking around for at least another season. We can’t get enough of how this model kept it cool by matching her deep red dress to her bordeaux-hued digits. (Photo via @cushnieetochs)

14. Perfectly Tousled Waves at BCBG Max Azria: YAS. Bed head has never looked so good. The good news is that you don’t even have to be an “it” girl to pull it off. With just the right beach spray (and day old hair), you can achieve perfectly tousled waves too. (Photo via @bcbgmaxazria)

low-loop

15. Low Loop at Marissa Webb: If you love top knots, then the new “low loop” — a more pulled-together version of the ponybun — is going to be your jam. As showcased at Marissa Webb, this poised and polished ‘do is essentially a cross between your trusty ponytail and a low bun, but with more panache. (Photo via @tresemme)

nicole-miller

16. Ombre Ends at Nicole Miller: These wildly unexpected ombre-colored ends are going to be everywhere before long. With just the tips dyed, you get the best of both worlds — dark brown on top and a medium auburn on the bottom. (Photo via @nicolemillernyc)

messy-fishtail-braid

17. Messy Fishtail Braid at Rebecca Minkoff: Enter the not-so-traditional fishtail braid with a twist. The messy #iwokeuplikethis appearance lends a French girl ‘tude that keeps it from entering school girl territory. For a look that’s so right now, pair it with a denim jacket or a bell sleeve dress. (Photo via @rebeccaminkoff)

netagive-space-mani

18. Negative Space Makeup at Marissa Webb: It was all-outline-or-nothing at Marissa Webb — at least as far as the nail art and eye makeup were concerned. On nails, using some well-placed strips of washi tape and black polish, this negative space design has major DIY potential. Lids may take more practice (aka enlist a friend with a steady hand). 19. Smoked Out Cat Eyes at Banana Republic: There’s something to be said about a classic cat eye that is both simple and totally DDG at the same time. It’s even better when you find one that will work for the office and a fancy soiree and a low-key weekend like this smokey cat eye where the liner lingers versus being graphically stamped. 20. Boho Fishtail Braids at Rachel Zoe: Calling all bohemian brides! This half up, half down style is simply breathtaking. For an ethereal wedding day look, pair this twisted fishtail braid with a lace frock and a flower crown. (Photo via Cindy Ord/Getty)
