Why This Cult- Favorite Shoe Has a Wait List of Over 1,400
Of all the things we wear, our footwear takes the most punishment; so finding a pair you can live in (comfortably) is worth waiting for, isn’t it? M. Gemi fans certainly think so, especially when it comes to Stellato Sacchetto ($228). The pointed-toe flat, available in five shades, has amassed a wait list of over 1,400 women.
But now, this baby has been restocked and is ready to add to cart. Hoorah! In the meantime, we’ve set out to find what exactly makes the Stellato Sacchetto in-demand. M. Gemi co-founder Maria Gangemi gave us the deets.
Brit + Co: What makes Stellato Sacchetto so popular?
Maria Gangemi: Like many of our shoes, the Stellato Sacchetto is the perfect hybrid of luxe and casual. This sleek pointed flat is a work-to-weekend style that can be paired with tailored pants now and breezy sundresses as the weather warms.
B+C: Ok, so it goes with everything, but how does it feel?
MG: Beyond the versatility of this style, our clients have really responded to the incredible fit and comfort it offers. It is made with a time-honored Italian technique called sacchetto construction — where the shoe is hand-sewn into one piece, the lining, and the insole are sewn together — and then stitched to the upper of the shoe. This labor-intensive process requires a very precise skill and creates a flat that has an incredibly flexible sole, with fewer seams that mold perfectly to the wearer’s foot.
B+C: Does that mean that customers are stocking up on all of the colors?
MG: Yes! We often find that once clients find a style they love, like this one, they buy it in multiple colorways. For that reason, with every release, we like to include a mix of classic neutrals she can wear year round and fun seasonal pop colors like the dusty pink (the first hue to sell out and quickly built a wait list of several hundred!).
B+C: If we miss out on the shoe this round, will there be another chance to buy it?
MG: This style has quickly become one of our top offerings, quickly selling out every time we restock. We are excited to be continuing it for the summer and fall seasons, incorporating vibrant new colors in our signature super soft suede.
