OMG: The New Spice Girls Spinoff Song Is HERE
Rumors of a Spice Girls reunion have been taunting us for what feels like forever now, and while it looked like they might have been getting closer and closer to one — despite no Posh or Sporty — the girls instead surprised us with a new direction this summer.
20 years (HOW?) after the release of their seminal hit “Wannabe,” Scary, Ginger and Baby Spice — AKA Mel B., Geri and Emma — instead formed a spinoff group called GEM, and now one of their reported new songs has leaked online. HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO US ALL!
“Song for Her” sounds more or less exactly like a classic Spice Girls anthem — bright, upbeat and airy synth-driven pop that’ll be stuck in your head immediately, and we LOVE the familiarity of it. If we’re being honest though, we do really miss the sound of Mel C.’s strong pipes here. But we’ll take it.
Even though Scary and Ginger were Facetiming each other just yesterday, none of the GEM girls have confirmed if this is in fact the first official taste of new music, but we’ll just be over here singing along ’til they do.
