One of the Hottest Baby Names of 2017 Comes from Our Fave New Disney Character
While 2016 saw celebrity newborns influencing the most popular names picked by parents, and the 12 biggest baby name trends for 2017 may result in plenty of literary-inspired monikers, it currently looks like one of our fave new Disney characters has sparked one of the hottest baby names of this year.
We may only be just over a month into 2017, but the trends are already making themselves known loud and clear. To find out what’s currently topping the list, Nameberry measured which names saw the greatest rise in page views in the first month of 2017 compared to the same time last year. What did they find? “The results are astonishing: A whole raft of hot new names signal a major cultural shift in 2017.”
While boys names saw Kyd, Benajah, Sulien, Koa and Gunther rise drastically in popularity, the top girls names included Tatjana (with a 1508 percent rise), Alizeh (748 percent rise) and Tahiti (551 percent rise).
But it was the fourth girls name on the list that we’ve fallen in love with: Moana.
Seeing a 467 percent rise in interest compared to the same time last year, it looks like plenty of parents have been inspired to name their little ones after the newest kick-butt Disney heroine.
FYI: Number five on the list was Ines (+338 percent), which happens to be the name of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynold’s new little one, proving that celebs (and their babies) are still a major influence when it comes to cultural trends.
We can’t wait to see how many little ones end up with the same names as Beyoncé and George Clooney’s babies… all four of ‘em!
