Ryan Lochte and Kayla Rae Reid Are Married!
It’s been an exciting couple of years for Ryan Lochte! After he proposed to his girlfriend, model Kayla Rae Reid, in October 2016, the two announced that December that they were expecting their first child. They welcomed a baby boy, Caiden Zane, the following June, and now they’re celebrating their happily-ever-after by getting married.
According to E! News, the 33-year-old Olympian and his love tied the knot in Gainesville, Florida, on Tuesday, with the swimmer’s father, Steven Lochte, acting as the couple’s witness. Though there are some reports that they had a courthouse ceremony, People claims that they were married at home, with their son present to witness his parents say “I do.”
People also reports that Reid wore the same outfit she was wearing when she and Lochte first met. There’s a chance we’ll still see her in a wedding dress someday, though, as they’re apparently planning a formal ceremony for the “near future.”
“I’ve waited for Kayla my whole life,” Lochte told People after the rather stealthy ceremony. “She has given us the most perfect little boy and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with her and Caiden.”
Being a parent (and now a husband) seems to agree with Lochte, who found himself in a bit of trouble during the last Olympics in Rio, when he and a few of his teammates claimed they’d been robbed at a gas station, before it came out that they had vandalized the station and fabricated the robbery story.
Though officials managed to smooth things over and the athletes apologized, it’s still nice to see that Lochte has put those days far behind him and is now embracing life with his new wife and baby boy.
