What is 'Irish Blood' about?

Acorn TV
In Irish Blood, Silverstone stars as Fiona, a tough-as-nails career woman who was left by her father at the age of 10. As a result of his abandonment, she initially wants nothing to do with him. But when she gets a mysterious letter decades later that exposes his dark secrets, she sets out on a mission to Dublin, Ireland, to uncover the truth. Just what happened to her father? What’s the real reason why he abandoned Fiona and her mother all those years ago? Perhaps there’s more to it than she initially assumed.
Why do people like shows like 'Irish Blood'?

Acorn TV
Let’s talk for a sec about family-centric TV shows. I grew up watching sitcoms like Full House and Little House on the Prairie, which depicted the most picture-perfect families imaginable. While watching, I secretly became self-conscious about how effortless and wholesome these dynamics seemed in comparison to my own experiences.
To be clear, I love my family more than anyone else on this planet. But with that being said, we didn’t exactly embody the squeaky-clean sitcom version of a tight-knit household where the worst thing that can happen is that someone spills their milk. In fact, I can easily recall a multitude of moments in my childhood home that were straight-up traumatic.
And while every family should strive to be as easy-going and wholesome as the TV shows I grew up with had once depicted, the truth of family dynamics is a whole lot more complicated than that. It’s natural for problems to arise and for tensions to build. That’s practically a given. I’m not saying it should be, but it’s realistic at the very least.
So that’s why when TV shows like Shameless and Irish Blood come out, I am finally able to feel like I don’t have to worry as much about my at times toxic upbringing. I prefer family-centric shows that actually have the courage to represent what it’s like to grow up in a household where people wind up hurting each other in big ways.
This is certainly the case for Silverstone’s upcoming series, in which the Clueless star plays a divorce lawyer who must grapple with her haunted past.

Fans have been dying for a sequel since the film first hit cinemas in 1995, and after 30 years of waiting, we as a nation are finally gifted with this reboot.
