‘Stranger Things’ Books Are on the Way!

Stranger Thingsseason 3 is still several months away — some reports say a 2019 release date is likely — but luckily for fans, Netflix is partnering with Penguin Random House to release two books about the show this fall, with more to come next year.

According to Deadline, one of the books due in 2018 is Stranger Things: World Turned Upside Down: The Official Behind-the-Scenes Companion, which will take an in-depth look at the sci-fi show. The second, as-yet-untitled book will offer “advice, wisdom, and warnings from the Stranger Things world,” according to Penguin Random House.

Those will be followed next spring by a prequel novel written by author Gwenda Bond. The novel reportedly will focus on Eleven’s mother, Terry Ives, as well as the CIA’s MKUltra mind control program, which saw Ives subjected to brutal experiments on the show.

The books are good news for fans who can’t get enough of the show, especially since there may only be two or three seasons left. “I think, you know, four to five seasons is likely where we’ll end up, but who knows?” Stranger Things co-creator Ross Duffer told E! News. “I mean, none of this [is] official, and we know where we want to go. We’re trying to figure out still how long it’ll take to get there, so we’ll see.” His brother, Matt Duffer, added, “It’s hard, like four seems short, five seems long. So, I don’t know what to do.”

Netflix has not yet announced a premiere date for Stranger Things season 3.

Chad Michael Murray Just Teased A "One Tree Hill" Reboot

Without a doubt, my favorite episode in all of television is the season seven finale of One Tree Hill. It's got all my favorite things: drama, intrigue, romance, and somehow, the episode also has all of my favorite songs from the show. One Tree Hill does an amazing job throughout its 10-year run of embracing life's beauty in the face of horror and, admittedly, unrealistic danger (remember when Nanny Carrie ran around a corn field with an axe?). And I'm not the only one who would love to see our favorite Tree Hill Ravens back onscreen. Chad Michael Murray, who led the teen drama for six seasons as Lucas Scott, would also love to reunite!

"I just can't see a world where something won't happen," Chad tells E! News. "Something will happen. Whether we get everybody together and do a live reading of the show, or we create a new fictional future episode, I don't know what it will be."

I'd love to see what everyone's life looks like in 2023, especially all of the main characters' kids. It'd be like One Tree Hill: The Next Generation! Would Jamie still play basketball? Would Brooke's twins take an interest in design? I have so many questions.

After the female cast members of OTHpublished a letter expressing they had been manipulated and harassed by creator Mark Schwahn, male cast members like Chad Michael Murray and James Lafferty expressed their support for the women. The cast has since said they'd be open to doing a reboot — but it sounds like it's more likely to happen if Mark is not involved.

The cast has found other ways to celebrate the show, and their relationships. Sophia Bush, Hilarie Burton, and Bethany Joy Lenz (who played Brooke, Peyton, and Haley, respectively) host the Drama Queens rewatch podcast, while different members of the cast have teamed up for Christmas movies like The Christmas Contract and (my personal favorite) A Christmas Wish.

They also recently reunited for the show's 20th anniversary in Wilmington, North Carolina, where the show was filmed! "Got to hang out with some great humans this weekend," Austin Nichols (who played Julian) posted on Instagram. "Old friends. Old stories. Lots of laughs. And made a bunch of new friends. Thank you to everyone who made this happen!"

"I spent 6 years on OTH. I’ve spent 14 years celebrating what comes AFTER with these people," Hilarie Burton says in her Instagram post. "They’ve heard me. Healed me. Humored me. I’m just really really grateful that we get these magical little moments to be together."

Sophia Bush also celebrated with a simple, "Honestly? Obsessed with us." Me too, Sophia. Me too.

Since then, the couple has been seen together in public from the stands at Coco Gauff's US Open Finals game to a Saturday Night Live afterparty.

Like the rest of the internet, you might be wondering: how did this unlikely couple come together? What *exactly* led up to the hard launch? Well, question no more – below, a comprehensive timeline of Timothée and Kylie’s relationship, which some are calling a “hot romance,” and others deeming it “fun and uncomplicated.”

January 2023

Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner reportedly met for the first time in January 2023. The pair was spotted together at a John Paul Gaultier fashion show during Paris Couture Week, and their interaction was published (and subsequently amplified) by blind items outlet, Deuxmoi, via Instagram Stories.

This came not long after Jenner had made her official break with longtime boyfriend, Travis Scott. They still share two children, Stormi, 5, and Aire Webster, 1.

April 2023

The aforementioned dating rumors began after a few instances between the couple went public. First, one of Jenner’s cars was photographed parked outside of Chalamet’s home in Beverly Hills.

Later in April, the pair also allegedly grabbed tacos from a stand together in Santa Monica, enjoying them in the backseat of Jenner’s Range Rover.

At the time, an insider told Peoplethat the two were “getting to know each other.” Another told Us Weekly that they had only hung out “a couple of times” and “things [weren’t] that serious.” Despite it all, Jenner reportedly “[liked] what she [saw]” and her and Timmy had “good chemistry.”

Between April, May, and June of 2023, the couple were simply enjoying “casually seeing each other,” according to Entertainment Tonight.

August 2023

Gasp!

Timothée and Kylie supposedly broke up – though sources covering the news were contradicting one another.

While Life & Stylereported their alleged breakup, TMZ dispelled the claims, with one insider affirming that “everything is cool between the two [and] they're still an item.”

Throughout the fall, their relationship remained very casual and the duo was staying out of the public eye.

September 2023

All of that brings us to Labor Day 2023, when Timmy and Kylie popped up extremely publicly at the Beyoncé concert. This was the first time we saw some PDA from the two, and it sent the internet into a spiral.

Many a social media post was made, documenting the couple’s kissing and hugging escapades in a VIP area.

The weekend after the concert, Timmy and Kylie were spotted sitting in the stands at the US Open Finals in New York. Pictures taken of the two included shots of them with their arms around the other, them kissing, and taking pictures of each other in the stands.

In November, Timothée hosted an episode of Saturday Night Live alongside musical guest boygenius. While fans expected to see Kylie in the audience, she actually joined him for the afterparty to celebrate his performance.

December 2023

Kylie and Timmy have been happy ever since. According to a source that spoke with People, Kylie has confidently declared Timothée as her boyfriend.

The pair is "incredibly happy" as they both show support to one another's careers and endeavors.

“He is very supportive of her career and she of his,” the source said. “They both try to attend important events for each other.”

The inside source also noted that Timothée is “in awe of everything [Kylie] is accomplishing” and “especially thinks she is an amazing mom.” So sweet!

This "Stranger Things 5" Leak Just Gave Us Our First Plot Detail

I didn't watch Stranger Thingswhen it first premiered because I convinced myself I wouldn't like it. I have never been more wrong. The story — which revolves around a small town in Indiana, a group of outcasts, popular kids, and parents brought together by tragedy, and a monstrous alternate dimension — launched into the cultural zeitgeist in November of 2016. Television (and streaming services) have never been the same.

The characters within the show (Millie Bobby Brown's powerful Eleven, Joe Keery's goofy-yet-sincere Steve, David Harbour's protective Jim) are so complex and engaging that it makes Stranger Things one of the best TV shows of the 2010s and 2020s. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and after the cultural moment that was Stranger Things 4 (FYI, I'm still listening to Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill"), the hit series is coming to a close. Here's everything we know about Stranger Things 5.

What happens in Stranger Things 5?

In an interview with Happy Sad Confused's Josh Horowitz, David Harbour says that the Duffers always outdo themselves. “I’m excited to go back. I’m excited to wrap it up in a bold, amazing way," he continues. "I’m excited to really swing with this character, because you know they’re going to pay off these OG characters: Eleven, Hopper, Joyce, Will, Mike; they’re going to pay them off in big ways because they’ve lived with you for the past eight years.”

Even though David keeps his lips sealed when it comes to plot details, he does promise that the series' end is "very, very moving."

Other members of the ST team have also offered a glimpse at what we can expect. “Will really takes center stage again in [Stranger Things 5],” Ross Duffer tells Variety. The first season, which kicked off with Will (Noah Schnapp) being abducted, will wrap up where it started. Especially since the first Stranger Things 5 leak seems to show the season will take place during the holidays. Just like season one!

After years of speculation from fans, Noah confirmed that Will is gay in July of 2022 — a decision that impacted his own life as he publicly came out on TikTok in January 2023.

"I think the way I act in Season 5, honestly, might be a little different," Noah says in the same Variety interview. "I will be fully aware of who I am. Knowing all of that about myself and being able to invest that in my character, I’m honestly just excited.”

“This emotional arc for him is what we feel is going to hopefully tie the whole series together," Ross continues. "Will is used to being the young one, the introverted one, the one that’s being protected. So part of his journey, it’s not just sexuality — it’s Will coming into his own as a young man.”

When will Stranger Things 5 film?

At the BoxLunch Gala on November 9, which honored Feeding America and where David Harbour was named the Giving Ambassador, David offered some insight into the plan for Stranger Things 5 now that the strike is over: "We got to film that last season of Stranger Things, don’t we? I got to be down there, like, in a couple of days. We gotta get going — we’re late!”

In addition to hyping up how eager everyone is to get back to filming, David also mentioned how much Hopper has inspired him over the course of working on the show and hopes that he can take the character's "strength, his courage, his dedication, his powerful love for his family, and for right and wrong, [and] his ideas of justice" with him after the series wraps.

Is there a Stranger Things season 5?

Yes, there will be a Stranger Things 5! In February 2022, brothers, writers, and creators Matt and Ross announced both the date of season four, and that season five would be the last installment.

"Seven years ago, we planned out the complete story arc for Stranger Things," they say in the statement. "We hope that you stay with us as we finish this tale of a powerful girl named Eleven and her brave friends, of a broken police chief and a ferocious mom, of a small town called Hawkins and an alternate dimension known only as the Upside Down."

When is Stranger Things 5 coming out?

Production was supposed to begin this summer, but because of the writers' strike (and the subsequent SAG-AFTRA actors' strike), Stranger Things 5 was delayed. Now, we're hoping to see it in late 2024 or early 2025.

"Duffers here. Writing does not stop when filming begins," @strangerwriters tweeted in May. "While we’re excited to start production with our amazing cast and crew, it is not possible during this strike. We hope a fair deal is reached soon so we can all get back to work. Until then -- over and out. #wgastrong."

But on September 27, after the writers' strike came to an official end, we got another exciting announcement when @strangerwriters tweeted, "we're back." The SAG-AFTRA strike will have to end before they can begin production on Stranger Things 5 with the actors, but for now, the team is writing again. Hooray!

Who is the new character in Stranger Things 5?

Linda Hamilton (The Terminator, Children of the Corn) is joining the final season. We don't know what kind of role she'll be playing, but we do know she loves Stranger Things as much as we do.

“I don’t know how to be a fangirl and an actress at the same time,” she said in a video announcement at Netflix's Tudum event. “I’m gonna work on that.”

We're also expecting to see Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Noah Schnapp as Will, Finn Wolfhard as Mike, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas, Sadie Sink as Max, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin, Priah Ferguson as Erica, Natalia Dyer as Nancy, Charlie Heaton as Jonathan, Maya Hawke as Robin, Joe Keery as Steve, David Harbour as Jim Hopper, and Winona Ryder as Joyce. Whew.

Is Millie Bobby Brown done with Stranger Things?

Millie Bobby Brown is returning as Eleven, but she said in an interview with Women’s Wear Daily that she's looking forward to the next chapter of life. Now 19, she started the series when she was 11 years old. “It’s been such a huge factor in part of my life, but it’s like graduating high school, it’s like senior year,” she says. “You’re ready to go and blossom and flourish and you’re grateful for the time you’ve had, but it’s time to create your own message and live your own life.”

Other members of the cast have also expressed their thoughts on the show's end.

“It’s interesting to constantly just be reminded how much people have resonated with it," Gaten Matarrazzo said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. "It’s something that’s so important to all of us and has just been essential to the growth that I’ve had over all of my teenage years into my 20s. It’s the defining aspect of the past 10 years of my life.”

Even if Finn Wolfhard, isn't quite ready for the show to end, he knows it's time. "If Stranger Things went on any longer than five, I would say it would be ridiculous,” Wolfhard told Uproxx. “I think the Duffer brothers figured out, I would imagine, a perfect ending in five. We didn’t even know if we’d do two. So we’re happy that people still are around and want to watch it.”

Is there a Stranger Things spinoff coming?

"There are still many more exciting stories to tell within the world of Stranger Things," the Duffers say in their statement announcing the end of the series. "New mysteries, new adventures new unexpected heroes."

In addition to the Stranger Things: The First Shadowstage play in London, we're also getting a live-action spinoff via Netflix. No one knows what the spinoff is about — except for Finn Wolfhard, who happened to guess it!
