Kate Upton is a mom! The 26-year-old model and her husband, Houston Astros pitcher Justin Verlander, welcomed a baby girl into the world on Wednesday, November 7, and kept the exciting news under wraps until Saturday.
Taking to Instagram, the new mom shared a black and white snap of her daughter’s tiny hand and face with the caption, “Genevieve Upton Verlander. 11.7.18.” As for Genevieve’s proud papa, he chose to post a different black and white photo of his little girl holding his thumb while he holds his wife’s hand. “Welcome to the world Genevieve Upton Verlander,” the 35-year-old athlete wrote. “You stole my [heart] the first second I met you!!! 11.7.2018.”
The couple — who got engaged in 2016, tied the knot in a castle in Italy last November, and announced Upton’s pregnancy back in July — have been inseparable since they began dating in 2013. Verlander has even credited Upton with saving his career and his life. Speaking with Bleacher Report (B/R) Mag back in August, the sports star said, “Who knows if I’m even here if it wasn’t for her? She was instrumental in me not… like, jumping off a bridge. I was depressed and kind of just upset at the world and trying to hide my own s***… She was what I needed.”
