The Alien franchise is finally making the leap to TV with Alien: Earth, an FX and Hulu series that takes the terrifying Xenomorphs down to Earth for the first time. It’s a big change from the usual isolated spaceships and deep-space horror we’re used to, but the show promises to keep that same mix of intense scares and thought-provoking dread that made the movies so iconic.

When is the Alien: Earth premiere date?
The series is set to premiere on August 12, 2025, with a two-episode launch on FX and Hulu, followed by weekly episodes. For international viewers, Disney+ will have the show starting August 13. There will be eight episodes in total.

Who's in the Alien: Earth cast?

The main character is Wendy, played by Sydney Chandler (Don't Worry Darling). She’s unique because her consciousness has been uploaded into a synthetic body, making her the first real “hybrid.” Alongside her is Timothy Olyphant’s (Daisy Jones & The Six) character Kirsh, a mentor-like synthetic tasked with guiding her through all the dangers, which include not only the Xenomorph threat but also the human greed and corruption behind it all.

What is Alien: Earth about?

Set in the year 2120, about 20 years before Ridley Scott’s original 1979 Alien movie, the series explores a world where massive corporations are racing to weaponize alien biology.
So, instead of creepy abandoned space freighters, the danger is now happening here on Earth, and the stakes feel even higher. The presence of these deadly creatures on our home planet ups the tension, forcing humanity to confront an alien threat and its own ambitions and moral compromises.
Noah Hawley, the creative mind behind Fargo and Legion, is at the helm, bringing his signature blend of cerebral storytelling and genre-bending style. Ridley Scott is back as an executive producer, too, which means the show will stay true to the Alien universe while also breaking new ground.
Is there an Alien: Earth trailer?
The Alien: Earth trailer already hints at something both grounded and deeply unsettling. It nods to familiar themes from past Alien films—biotech horror, body possession, and that creeping atmosphere of dread—but this isn’t just a retread. Instead, it feels like an origin story, showing how humanity’s hunger for control and progress might actually be its downfall.
