This Retail Space Combines Two of Our Favorite Pinterest Trends

When it comes to interiors, we tend to believe that the more dramatic, the better. (We’re looking at you, color-soaked walls and scene-stealing statement lighting fixtures!) But even our drama-loving selves sometimes falter when it comes to mixing trends. Can two Pinterest-famous design features coexist peacefully in the same space without stealing each other’s thunder? With their new store, New Orleans-based eyewear brand KREWE has that they can… and should.

Terrazzo has been on our radar for a minute now, but our love for the home decor trend is still going strong. “It’s minimalist and modern, but terrazzo is one of the oldest Italian composite techniques for a material,” KREWE founder Stirling Barrett tells us. Meanwhile brass is a timeless metal that’s certainly been having a moment lately thanks to its glamorous quality. According to Barrett, the retro-meets-current theme in the finishes is no accident: “This space is a mixture of the old and the new, the iconic and the modern — all centered on [creating] a feeling of community.” The result feels fresh, yet familiar.

The welcoming vibe of the shop is embodied by the stunning cash wrap, which showcases a coordinating gold-toned tap (offering both Rosé and Kombucha for guests). “Being from the South, hospitality is a part of our identity. When people come into the store, they should feel like they are coming into our home,” Barrett says. And that includes enjoying a drink (or two).

Blush-hued chairs and plenty of plants lend a millennial slant to the space, but Barrett insists it comes with a decidedly NOLA-tinged flair. “We feature lush tropical plant life around the store to tie in the fact that our frames are plant-based but also because New Orleans is a city full of greenery,” he says. It doesn’t hurt that the store makes a picture-perfect Instagram background for tourists and locals alike.

Ultimately, the frames themselves were a major source of inspiration too. “Our stores have a clean, minimalistic design to them, which provides a blank canvas for our frames to be displayed for people to really see themselves in our eyewear. This also helps call attention to the intricate acetates that we use and the unique eyewear designs on display,” Barrett explains. It’s not hard to see how they made the leap from variegated acetate to the uniquely speckled terrazzo, but the extra-long counter also serves another savvy purpose. “The long terrazzo bar in the center of the space allows for people to sit and gather together while shopping, waiting for their eye exam, or just hanging out,” according to Barrett. (Rosé and sunglasses shopping in NOLA sound like a good afternoon in our books.)

10 Interior Design Trends I'm Stealing From This Mid-Century Home With A Hollywood Past

Los Angeles is teeming with homes that have a Hollywood past, which is kind of a cool perk of living in this film-centric city. Barrett Cooke, principal and co-founder of Los Angeles design and architecture studio Arterberry Cooke, recently renovated a mid-century home in La Cañada (a city in LA County) that was originally built on a tennis court (you heard that right, just the tennis court) owned by 1935 Academy Award winner for Best Actor Victor McLagen.

Honoring the ranch-style home's original historic details and charm, Barrett and her team did an entire remodel of the home, creating a dreamy indoor-outdoor sanctuary. Here are 10 interior design trends I'm loving from this remodel.

Pop of Color, Front To Back

Colorful doors on neutral homes are always a fun detail, but extending the color indoors and to the back door elevates the entire space. A bold splash of bright yellow creates this energy that allows the neutrals to really shine.

Colorful Pillows

It's refreshing to see these bright stripes against the mid-century fireplace, which has been updated with a fresh coat of white paint. Colorful pillows keep the space fun, casual and kid-friendly.

Sage Cabinets

These retro-style cabinets in a soothing sage color balance out the vibrant color in other parts of the house. The home features earth tones, warm woods, and splashes of color that update and modernize the iconic mid-century look and feel to the home.

Terrazzo Tile

The clients are huge fans of terrazzo and Barrett incorporated the material onto the kitchen countertops and backsplash, which preserves the mid-century look.

Spathroom

The freestanding tub over a graphic green tile creates a space that's inviting, cozy and nature-inspired. Add a plant or two, some natural light, and calming earthy tones to create a spa-like atmosphere.

Passion Rooms

Designing a space for being creative, like making music, is home goals. It personalizes the home and enhances its functionality. Barrett frames the back door in the punchy yellow too!

Outdoor Tile

A pop of pink in a mid-century pattern feels modern and old school at the same time. I adore this pink tile for the outdoors – a great way to think outside typical stone and rock landscaping. Leftover tile is used also in the laundry room.

Backyard "Rooms"

Creating elevated spaces in the backyard makes the space appear larger with separate "rooms" for lounging, eating, and hot-tubbing. Note that the yellow outdoor chairs echo the door color too.

Outdoor Kitchens

Let the al fresco season begin! This outdoor kitchen offers so many benefits: it moves the cooking outdoors in the heat of summer; keeps the cook outside mingling with guests and not missing out on the action, and encourages a season or more of dining outdoors in nature, all wins!

Converted Garage

May 2024: Rumors Swirl About Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck's Alleged Divorce

Though Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have reconnected, there have rumors that their marriage may be in trouble. A source alerted InTouch Weekly that there have been obvious signs that something is wrong for a while.

"The writing is on the wall – it’s over," the source claims before saying, "They’re headed for a divorce – and for once, [Ben’s] not to blame!" The source believes the two have a lot of love for each other, but that they're jus too different to be together.

TMZ has also reported that Ben seems like he hasn't been living at home — yikes! He was photographed leaving going to and coming from a L.A. home without Jennifer. It's also being reported that he's been allegedly spending the night there.

But, TMZ also pointed out that the pair are still wearing their wedding rings so it's hard to say if there's any merit to the breakup rumors. Until Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck actually give a statement, I'm going to cross my fingers and hope for the best!

RHONY's Sai De Silva Got Caught Calling New Cast Mate Rebecca Minkoff "Boring"

But what can we expect from a new season of RHONY? With rumors swirling about who's set to return, here's everything we know about The Real Housewives of New York season 15.

Is "The Real Housewives of New York" coming back for season 15?

For a while, there was no official word from Bravo about whether or not we were getting more RHONY...but we're stayed hopeful! Well, all that waiting paid off because Bravo posted on Instagram that season 15 is a-go! Andy Cohen recently told Us Weeklythat the "next season" should fix some of the bumps this reboot faced, so we're excited to see what that means for the upcoming RHONY season!

Who's in the cast for "The Real Housewives of New York" season 15?

It was pretty unclear who was returning to The Real Housewives of New York. Most notably outspoken about her return (or potential lack thereof) was Jenna Lyons. She told Jimmy Fallon that she wasn't sure if she'll return for another season, which would have been a total bummer TBH! Jenna's sublime style and unique personality added so much to the show's dynamic last year, and it would definitely be missed.

LUCKILY, the entire season 14 is set to return for RHONY season 15 — Jenna included! Watch the adorable announcement here.

Reports are in that THE Rebecca Minkoff is joining the cast, too. While it's unclear if she's a friend of the show or a main cast member, I can't wait to watch this amazing female founder take the show by the horns! Meanwhile, other folks have different feelings about the new housewife.

According to Page Six, Sai De Silva isn't too interested in Minkoff's presence on the show. In what she must have thought was a private conversation, De Silva shared that she finds Minkoff to be "boring" and that she's "unresponsive" to the cast's attempts to "take her down." Whoops!

The show hasn't even started, and I already can't wait to watch this all unfold...

Is Luann de Lesseps coming back to "The Real Housewives of New York"?

Matt Rogers recently asked Countess Luann outright about the possibility of a return to the RHONY world. According to Matt, he heard that the upcoming season would have Brynn Whitfield, Erin Lichy, Jessel Taank, Sonja Morgan, Luann de Lesseps, and Dorinda Medley with Ubah Hassan returning as a friend of the cast. Luann neither confirmed nor denied this IRL, but cryptically commented on Instagram this February about the rumors.

However, as of right now, Countess Luann de Lesseps isn't an announced cast season 15 cast member.

What do the other cast members think about these rumors? According to Us Weekly, Brynn Whitfield is "open to anything" when it comes to filming with current and former cast members. Meanwhile, Erin Lichy told Access Hollywoodthat they're "not joining forces with (RHONY) Legacy."

Who got fired from "RHONY"?

After filming RHONY Legacy, investigative reporting by Vanity Fairfound that Ramona Singer allegedly used a racial slur towards a Black crew member — among other racially-driven misconduct allegations from years past and present. Ramona vehemently denied the use of the slur, but was still asked not to attend BravoCon in 2023. It's very likely that her time at Bravo is now up. According to PEOPLE, Ramona also isn't employed by real estate company Douglas Elliman anymore.

Who is the richest on "The Real Housewives of New York"?

According to Cosmopolitan, Jenna Lyons is worth approximately $5 million dollars — the most net-worth of the current cast for The Real Housewives of New York. However, this could change if she decides not to return to the show! The next in line would be Brynn Whitfield, coming in at a worth of $3 million dollars.
