10 Brand-New Disney Parks Tips You Need to Know for Your Next Visit

It’s time to dust off your Minnie ears and start planning that next fun and sun-filled trip to a Disney park. Spring and summer are wildly popular times to go to the happiest place on earth, be it Disneyland in California or Walt Disney World in Florida. But this year will be particularly crazy on both coasts thanks to the much-anticipated opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and as always there are also some new rules to be mindful of. So as you start planning all the particulars of your next Disney fix, keep these 10 new tips in mind.

1. Don’t bring your cigarettes to the park. If you happen to smoke, vape, or otherwise ingest any sort of smokiness into your lungs, you won’t be able to do that inside Disney parks anymore. Beginning May 1, 2019, there will be a park-wide ban on smoking in Disneyland, Disney World, their water parks, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, and Downtown Disney in Anaheim. Those who imbibe will need to search out the designated smoking areas located outside the entrances or the smoking areas available at Disney Resort hotels.

2. Think small when bringing a stroller. Don’t bring your bulky stroller or gigantic wagon to the parks. For your next trip, you’ll need to think smaller: Starting of May 1, strollers must be no larger than 31 inches wide and 52 inches long. (It is a small world, after all.)

3. You can get your drink on at Disneyland. While one vice is saying goodbye, a new one is being introduced (think of it as a trade of sorts). Disneyland has notoriously been a dry land, but that will change when Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens this May. While you won’t see booze served up on Main Street USA or in the lobby of Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, you will be able to sip on themed alcoholic beverages like the Outer Rim, Bespin Fizz, Yub Nub, and Fuzzy Tauntaun in Galaxy’s Edge.

4. Leave the ice at home. It’s pretty sweet of Disney parks to allow you to bring in your own foods and drinks, but they are now drawing the line at ice. Yes, ice. Apparently, some visitors were lugging loose ice and even dry ice into the parks to keep their drinks and snacks nicely chilled, and the disposal was becoming problematic. Reusable ice packs, on the other hand, are still fine. (They’re better for the environment too.)

5. Book a room to get into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. If you’re like most, you’re itching to visit the brand new Star Wars-themed land. But if you think you can just waltz right in with Jedi-like tenacity, you’d be wrong: The Force doesn’t work that way. To get an early peek at the most anticipated Disneyland addition ever, you’ll need to book a room at one of the Disney Resort hotels; you’ll then be given an assigned time to get your Star Wars fill. Almost all the hotel rooms have already been booked for the launch time frame — but plans do change, so it could be worthwhile to keep an eye out for any cancellation openings.

6. Grab a bathroom pass if you’re headed to Galaxy’s Edge. This may give you flashbacks to grade school, but bathroom passes will be a “thing” when Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens. Disney is anticipating record-breaking lines for the attractions, so to help those with busy bladders, they’re introducing a system where people who need to leave the line for a bathroom break can snag a pass. On their return, they can meet up with their pals at the FastPass merge location.

7. Book a breakfast with a princess. When the Pixar-themed Lamplight Lounge opened in the space that was once Ariel’s Grotto in Disney California Adventure, the princesses who would hold court there were suddenly displaced. But don’t fret: The lovely ladies of Disney have a new place to meet and entertain their loyal fans. Disney Princess Breakfast Adventures at the Napa Rose restaurant at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel features a three-course breakfast, story time, kid-friendly activities, and princess photo ops. Since everyone loves princesses (and breakfast), be sure to reserve this dining experience way ahead of time. (Photo via Joshua Sudock/Disneyland Resort)

8. Enjoy Disney After Dark. These specially ticketed after-hours events let visitors hang out in the park with smaller crowds, unique experiences, dance parties, and rare character photo ops. These events pop up from time to time, and there are two new ones on the horizon. For Disneyland After Dark, there will be Heroes Assemble at Disney California Adventure Park on April 30 and May 1. And along with a variety of Disney After Hours events at all the parks in Disney World, there’s one in particular that’s a must for those who love Disney baddies — Disney Villains After Hours at Magic Kingdom Park. These mayhem-filled evenings run on select dates from June 6 to August 8.

9. Celebrate your favorite mouse. The year of Mickey is in full swing with a new immersive experience: Pop-Up Disney! A Mickey Celebration. Opening April 26, 2019 in Downtown Disney at the Disneyland Resort, this pop-up photo-op pays homage to Mickey Mouse for a limited time. It’s your chance to take a selfie on the super-sized bow sofa or go Plane Crazy with Mickey, and who could resist that?

10. Snag a discount on park tickets. Getting a deal on tickets at Disneyland or Disney World tickets has been notoriously hard… until now. Sam’s Club recently announced their new Travel and Entertainment service, which allows members to score discounted tickets to various destinations, including Disneyland and Disney World. Additionally, Disney is offering discounted tickets to Florida residents heading to Disney World, and Southern Californian locals can get a deal on Disneyland. aRes also offers discounts on multi-day and Park Hopper tickets at both Disneyland and Disney World.

A recent Gallup pollshowed that fewer than half of Americans are “very satisfied” with their life choices. Where you live, it turns out, has a lot to do with your overall life satisfaction: the community you have, the quality of life you experience, and your physical and emotional health and safety. Personal finance website, WalletHub released its report on the Happiest Cities in America in 2024 to find the places where people experience the highest life satisfaction and the results are surprising.

“Meaningful relationships and social connections are perhaps the most important ingredients for a happy life, according to an 85-year-long study recently published by Harvard researchers Waldinger and Schulz (2022)," says Buffie Longmire-Avital, Ph.D., a professor at Elon University. “High-quality relationships stand out as important predictors of individuals' happiness. Having rewarding interactions with people whom you value and who value you may provide the support, comfort, laughter, and intimacy that elevate individuals' happiness.”

Jess Loiterton

WalletHub first compared the 50 states across 30 key indicators of happiness, with a date set that ranged from the depression rate and the share of adults feeling productive to income growth and the unemployment rate. Hawaii has the lowest share of adult depression, which is 2.3 times lower than in Tennessee, the state with the highest. New Jersey has the fewest suicides (per 100,000 residents), which is 3.7 times fewer than in Montana, the state with the most. Utah has the highest volunteer rate, which is 2.6 times higher than in Florida, the state where the rate is the lowest. Volunteerism is another way people find purpose and joy in life.

William Bout

In order to determine the happiest cities in America, WalletHub compared 182 of the largest cities — including the 150 most populated U.S. cities — across three key areas:

  • Emotional & Physical Well-Being
  • Income & Employment
  • Community & Environment

Priscilla Du Preez

“When individuals have a high sense of community...well-being increases, and stress, anxiety, and depression decrease. Neighborhoods with high walkability scores that are also safe and near things like parks or trails help sustain our physical and mental health, which are key factors in determining happiness,” adds Dr. Longmire-Avital.

Here are the top 20 happiest U.S. cities, many of which score high on the nature and family-friendly aspect. Ready for a new start or planning local travel this season? Check them out!

Fremont, CA

Shutterstock

According to the WalletHub report, Fremont, CA, located in the San Francisco Bay Area, is the happiest city in America, and one reason why is income: the city has the highest share of households with an income above $75,000, at nearly 80 percent. Studies have shown that increasing your income also increases your happiness up to $75,000 (but not beyond). With a rich history tied to the California Gold Rush, Fremont has evolved into a hub for the tech industry, including Tesla's Fremont Factory. The city offers excellent schools, a wide range of cultural experiences, and outdoor spaces like Mission Peak. People in Fremont also have a high rate of life satisfaction, a low depression rate, and a long lifespan on average. It also has the lowest share of adults who report having mentally unhealthy days, so people in the city seem to be doing the self care needed to keep themselves happy.

Overland Park, KS

Visit Overland Park

Overland Park, KS, has earned its spot as the second-happiest city in the U.S., thanks to several key factors that contribute to its residents' well-being. With the lowest poverty rate in the nation at just 4.2 percent and an impressively low unemployment rate of 3 percent, it's clear that financial stability plays a huge role in their happiness. The city also boasts one of the lowest food insecurity rates, meaning more families have what they need to thrive. Residents of Overland Park also enjoy a lot of leisure time each week, which many spend participating in sports — one of the top ways to stay emotionally and physically healthy. Overland Park boasts a rich cultural scene, including the Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, and a variety of dining and shopping options. People in Overland Park tend to get more sleep than those in most other cities, a crucial factor for maintaining a positive mindset.

San Jose, CA

Josh Sorenson

Not far from Fremont is the third-happiest city: San Jose, CA, in the heart of Silicon Valley and home to tech giants like Adobe and eBay. San Jose has a diverse food scene, art galleries, and beautiful outdoor spaces, including nearby hiking trails in the Santa Cruz Mountains, which you can enjoy year-round. The city has the longest average life expectancy in the country. It also has one of the lowest separation and divorce rates and scores the best on the health and wellness company Sharecare’s Community Well-Being Index, which measures how much residents like where they live, feel safe and have pride in their community. It also scores extremely well on Sharecare’s Life-Satisfaction Index, which measures people’s health risks based on various physical, financial and social factors.

Madison, WI

Josh Sorenson

Nestled between lakes Mendota and Monona, Madison offers stunning waterfront views, beautiful parks, and a ton of Midwestern charm. The University of Wisconsin-Madison brings in some of its youthful energy while the city boasts a strong local food, music, and art scene. It's also a great place to live, work, and explore.

Irvine, CA

Irvine, California in sunny Orange County is known for its family-friendly vibe, excellent schools, and thriving economy. Home to the University of California, Irvine, the city offers a mix of culture and nature with great parks, bike paths, nearby beaches and the Irvine Spectrum Center, a popular shopping and entertainment destination.

Honolulu, HI

Kinø

This tropical paradise and state capital, located on the island of Oahu, is famous for its stunning beaches, including the iconic Waikiki Beach, and its rich cultural heritage. Honolulu offers world-class shopping, dining, and entertainment alongside scenic landscapes like Diamond Head and lush rainforests. Home to landmarks like Iolani Palace and the Pearl Harbor Memorial, Honolulu is known for its warm aloha spirit.

San Francisco, CA

From the Golden Gate Bridge, Crissy Field, and Presidio Tunnel Tops to bustling Fillmore Street in Pacific Heights, Valencia Street in the Mission, and Hayes St. in Hayes Valley, there's tons to explore from a world-class food scene to indie shopping to museums and coastal views.

Pearl City, HI

Pearl City is a charming suburban community located on the island of Oahu, just west of Honolulu. The nearby Pearl Harbor National Memorial and surrounding waters with scenic views hold both historical significance and recreational activities like boating. The city itself has a peaceful close-knit community and is family-friendly with excellent schools, parks, and shopping centers.

Columbia, MD

Located between Baltimore and Washington, D.C., Columbia is known for its diverse neighborhoods, excellent schools, and many green spaces with parks, lakes, and over 90 miles of walking and biking trails. Columbia’s town center features shopping, dining, and entertainment options, including the Merriweather Post Pavilion, a renowned concert venue. Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life might feature all four seasons, but that doesn't change the fact that Gilmore Girls simply is fall. As soon as we hear those first "La-Las," we're transported right into the chilliest, most beautiful October day. Some pop culture fans prefer the cosmopolitan '90s aesthetic of Meg Ryan Fall, while others lean more into the Tim Burton of it all ahead of Halloween. But us? We're die-hard Gilmore Girls Fall fans. Here are all the ways you can live like Rory and Lorelai this autumn.

Watch The Best 'Gilmore Girls' Fall Episodes

Warner Bros. Television

First and foremost, the best way to have a Gilmore Girls fall is to rewatch all your favorite autumn episodes from the series. As Lorelai and Rory themselves say about The Donna Reed Show: "It's a lifestyle. It's a religion."

There are plenty to pick from (22 at least), but my favorite will always be the episode where Rory and Lorelai go to four separate Thanksgiving dinners, and manage to eat a ton of food at every single one. But considering the cozy spirit of the show is perfectly captured in the pilot, that episode is always a good idea, too.

Grab Some Cozy Fall Decor

Target

If you're looking to outfit your home with some brand new fall decor, look no further than these pieces from Target. They're quirky, they're cozy, and they're exactly the kind of things Rory and Lorelai would obsess over. I mean, tell me a 2024 version of Rory wouldn't put this fall floral cloche in her office!

Grab A Dragonfly Inn-cense Burner

Ajouter Store/Warner Bros. Television

Speaking of decor, I simply cannot get over this Dragonfly Inn incense burner. When I said you could add some Gilmore Girls magic into your life, I meant it. You can also choose a burner that looks like a mug of Luke's coffee, and I can't decide which one I love more.

Plan An Epic 'Gilmore Girls' (Stars) Hallow-een Group Costume

Brit + Co

Halloween is coming up fast, and if you're still in need of a costume, choose one of these super easy (and recognizable) TV characters. You probably have a lot of these pieces in your closet already, and if not, a quick trip to a thrift store or Target will help you out.

Channel Your Inner Rory Gilmore With A White Cable Knit Sweater

Warner Bros. Television

If you already have your Halloween costume planned out (anyone else going as Glinda from the new Wicked movie?), then add Rory's iconic white sweater into your fall wardrobe. It goes with literally everything: trousers, denim skirt, jeans, leather skirt. The sky's the limit!

Watch One Of These Cozy Comfort Movies For 'Gilmore Girls' Fans

Searchlight Pictures/Hulu

During Gilmore Girls Fall, movie night needs to be all about those warm and fuzzy feelings. Any rom-com or fall movie that leaves you feeling happier at the end than when you pressed play is the way to go here. Rye Lane and Elizabethtown are some of my favorite picks.

...Or Pick A Heartwarming TV Show

The CW

One thing that always helps keep me unwind is watching an episode of a favorite TV show. Whether it's during my lunch break or before bed, tuning into a story for 30 to 45 minutes is the perfect way to give my brain a break, especially when I've had a long day.

Pick Up Some Fall Books

Amazon

But if you're more of a book lover, you might opt for any of these novels. Keeping a book with you at all times is so Rory-coded (remember the book she brought to her dance in season 1?), and these are all great additions to your personal library. The central themes? Family, romance, and small town living. (Hm, that sounds familiar).

Whip Up Some Delicious 'Gilmore Girls' Recipes

Warner Bros. Television

Rory and Lorelai manage to eat their way through giant pizzas and sugary cereal (plus a burger, donut, popcorn and Red Vines) without any problem. Every episode of Gilmore Girls makes us hungrier than the last, and these recipes will satisfy all your cravings. Rory and Lorelai would never cook them, but they'd definitely eat them.

Put Together A DIY Coffee Bar

Brit + Co

Delicious coffee is already a must-have all autumn long, but the only thing that's better than sipping a fall coffee drink is putting together a fall coffee bar. It looks super cute and keeps all your coffee essentials in one place. And the next time you host a Gilmore Girls watch party, your guests will feel like they're at Luke's!

Travel To See The Best Fall Foliage

Shutterstock

The move from pastel flowers in the spring and greenery in the summer to fall's crisp and vibrant leaves really gets us in the mood for every pumpkin spice latte we can get our hands on. Living in Connecticut, Rory and Lorelai are surrounded by the most beautiful fall scenes, so Gilmore Girls Fall definitely warrants a roadtrip. Stowe, Vermont, Newport, Rhode Island, and Washington, Connecticut are all great places to explore!

Check out 18 Places To See Gorgeous Fall Foliagefor even more ideas.

Stock Up On Some 'Gilmore Girls' Gifts

Retailers

Transport yourself right to Stars Hollow with these awesome Gilmore Girls gifts. They're the perfect addition to your closet, your mug cabinet, or your decor and cover all kinds of aesthetics. That means there's something for everyone. I'm eyeing that Fall Festival art print!

While most Utah-bound visitors might make a beeline toward Zion or Arches, Bryce Canyon National Park evokes a very rare and mystical spirit I’d argue you can’t find anywhere else.

That’s not to denounce the absolutely breathtaking beauty of the other four parks under The Mighty 5, but I experienced some truly unexplainable magic on my recent adventure to Bryce Canyon. Every twist and turn left me at a loss for words.

If you happen to stumble upon it in your travels, you’ll also be caught by surprise. Between the blue, hoodoo-dotted skyline, rocks with a sprawling spectrum of colors, and the smooth canyon walls, you really can’t help but be in awe.

Aside from hitting the trails and snapping hundreds of photos in Bryce Canyon National Park’s vastness, there’s a lot more to explore in the surrounding area. Keep reading to discover everything you can get up to in this incredibly impressive region of Utah!

Hiking Queen's Garden trail in Bryce Canyon National Park

1. There are endless outdoor opportunities.

Bryce Canyon country offers all kinds of opportunities for outdoor adventure: hiking, camping, canyoneering, ATV touring, horseback riding, and more.

Meredith Holser

Inside a slot canyon near Escalante, Utah

Hit some stunning viewpoints and experience the wild rock formations through a hike in Bryce Canyon (Queen’s Garden and Mossy Cave are two great beginner-friendly options), go off the beaten path and catch some serious scenery with with Grand Staircase ATV Tours, or dare to go deep into the region’s slot canyons, guided by the playful experts at Excursions of Escalante.

Meredith Holser

Vista near Escalante, Utah

If you’re not one for hiking, nearby Scenic Byway 12 offers a 122-mile stretch worth of views to soak up without ever having to get out of your car (though, if you ask me, being immersed in it is so much better).

No matter your appetite for adventure, there’s always something to get up to!

2. The natural beauty will leave you stunned.

Being in Bryce Canyon literally feels like you’re on another planet. As a native Texan-turned-Colorado girl, I was constantly gawking at the towering hoodoos, striated sandstone surfaces, and intense blue skies that I simply don’t see at home.

Every feature there is so vast, reminding you just how small of a piece you are in the world’s grand puzzle. I felt humbled in the most satisfying way possible.

Rainbow sighting at Ofland Escalante

My late August visit landed in the middle of southern Utah’s monsoon season, so I also got to witness rich bands of fog and torrential mid-day downpours – both equally as beautiful as the clear weather. Rainbows almost always rolled in after each rainfall, capturing every onlooker’s attention and encouraging an undeniable sense of calm.

Meredith Holser

3. The area has a really rich history.

Bryce Canyon has seen many indigenous cultures throughout history, from Fremont, Anasazi, Pueblo, and Paiute. Tribes relied heavily on the region’s bounties as early as 1200 A.D., using native plants and animals to survive and thrive. It’s important to acknowledge that Bryce Canyon country’s indigenous roots are still undeniably present today.

The area’s founding is most commonly accredited to Ebenezer Bryce, a Mormon pioneer for whom Bryce Canyon was nicknamed around 1874. It officially became a national park in 1928.

Zooming out by 75 million years or so, dinosaurs roamed the surrounding Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. Sixteen new species of dinosaurs have been discovered in the area since 1999 in addition to hundreds of animal and plant fossils mapped in Bryce Canyon itself.

Whether you seek out the canyon’s history for yourself or gather fun facts from the locals, you’ll surely learn a lot on your travels here!

Lil Dipper dome at Clear Sky Resorts Bryce Canyon

4. There are plenty of places to stay, whatever your vibe is.

From glamping to camping, there’s a nice range of options when it comes to finding accommodations in Bryce Canyon country. My top recommendations?

Clear Sky Resorts Bryce Canyon sits about 15 miles southeast (~20 minute drive) from Bryce Canyon in Cannonville, Utah. Nestled in a mellow canyon, Clear Sky’s unique windowed domes (suitable for couples or groups up to 8 people) offer unparalleled views of the stars while supplying modern comforts like air conditioning, showers, and wifi.

Meredith Holser

Looking out from a Lil Dipper dome at Clear Sky Resorts Bryce Canyon

There’s even an on-site restaurant and bar with such friendly staff members that really make the stay memorable. Coming back to your fully outfitted dome after a day-long adventure will be extremely satisfying!

Fire pit and accessible cabins at Ofland Escalante

Ofland Escalante is located in Escalante, Utah, about 46.5 miles (~1 hour drive) from Bryce Canyon. This polished accommodation surely taps into the heart of glamping, but still feels quite grounded in the surrounding nature. Ofland is fitted with a pool, a hot tub, a food truck, a lobby stocked with grab-and-go snacks and drinks, and a playful drive-in movie theater.

Meredith Holser

Inside a Deluxe Cabin at Ofland Escalante

There’s also an epic outdoor lodge to enjoy – sit around the fire pit while you sip a local brew, play a few hands of Uno, or cozy up with a book. You can book a deluxe or tiny cabin, a decked-out Airstream trailer, or set up at your very own campsite here. There are also custom-designed accessible cabins that boast extra floor space and ADA compliant details for a super cozy stay!

Meredith Holser

Overlooking formations near Escalante, Utah

If you’re looking to camp in Bryce Canyon National Park, you can certainly pitch your tent inside the park’s North and Sunset campgrounds. The Sunset campground is closed in the winter, and both locations are first come, first served, so it can be a little chaotic to land even a single-night stay.

To avoid the frantic search for a campground inside the park, you can opt for locations outside of it, like Red Canyon Campground in Dixie National Forest (about 6 miles from Bryce Canyon) or campgrounds in Kodakchrome State Park (about 15 miles from Bryce Canyon), which still provide wonderful scenery and a comfortable place to lay your head.

Meredith Holser

Brisket sandwich with mac n' cheese at i.d.k. Barbecue

5. The food is scrumptious.

Fear not, outdoorsy foodies. Bryce Canyon country has quite a few spots to get your grub on between adventures! Sink your teeth into a hefty BBQ sandwich at i.d.k. Barbecue (Tropic, UT) or grab an insanely tasty slice at family-owned The Pizza Place (Tropic).

Meredith Holser

The exterior of Kiva Koffeehouse

Down a local beer alongside your very American dinner at 4th West Pub (Escalante, UT) or sip on some ethically-sourced caffeine with your choice of Southwestern fare from Kiva Koffeehouse’s rotating menu (Escalante).

Meredith Holser

Sipping Kiitos' Blackberry Sour at Ofland Escalante

The food is grand, but the drinks are worth mentioning, too. Despite Utah’s unusual liquor laws, there are numerous breweries and distilleries creating delectable beers, IPAs, ciders, gins, whiskies, and more. Uinta, Kiitos, and Wasatch are the big names when it comes to breweries, but Utah’s distilleries are more concentrated near Salt Lake City, so you’ll find the source of stronger spirits there.

More Must-Knows

  • Best time to visit: For the best (and warmest) weather, the summer months of June through August are ideal to visit Bryce Canyon, though the park tends to see more crowds during that time. Spring and fall (April-May and September-October) may be chillier in terms of temperature, but you’ll likely catch spring blooms or fall foliage, depending on when you decide to visit. Plus, the crowds die down in these shoulder seasons. The winter months are colder than cold and bring on unpredictable weather, though the show lays out good grounds for skiing and snowshoeing, if that’s your jam.
  • How to get there: If you’re aiming to fly to get to Bryce Canyon country, your best bet is to route to either Salt Lake City or Las Vegas. From either location, the drive to Bryce Canyon is about 4 hours, offering exceptional sights as you go.
  • Cost for the park: You can enter Bryce Canyon with a standard pass, annual pass, or America the Beautiful pass. A standard park pass costs $20-$35, an annual park pass costs $70, and an America the Beautiful pass costs $80. You can learn more about what pass is right for your visit here!
  • Trip essentials: Having sturdy hiking boots, high-quality socks (I love my Smartwoolpairs), SPF, warm layers for chilly nights, and a hydration pack (this insulated one from Brümate is so worth it) on-hand proved to be the most helpful items I packed for my adventure to Bryce Canyon. Prepare to pack comfy clothes and toiletries, plus snacks and camping items if you plan to pitch a tent.

SNL season 49 had some seriously memorable moments (the unhinged Scooby Doo sketch with Jake Gyllenhaal and Sabrina Carpenter lives rent free in my mind). And this year, we're coming up on a huge moment for the series: its 50th season. SNL season 50 is sure to be memorable, and if you ask me, there's one person that would make the perfect host and musical guest: Taylor Swift. Here's everything you need to know about the upcoming installment of Saturday Night Live!

When is SNL season 50 premiering?

Will Heath/NBC

SNL Season 50 Release Date

SNL season 50 will premiere on NBC Saturday September 28, 2024. This is the first time since 2020 that Saturday Night Live has premiered in September instead of October, and we're not mad about it!

Who is hosting the SNL premiere?

Jake Giles Netter/Max

SNL Season 50 Hosts

Hacks star Jean Smart will host the SNL season 50 premiere alongside musical guest Jelly Roll. Maya Rudolph will return to SNL season 50 as Vice President Kamala Harris following the announcement that Harris is running for President. This role, which won Rudolph the 2020 Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series, is sure to lead to plenty of viral moments. Deadline confirmed her return on July 31.

Is Taylor Swift hosting Saturday Night Live in 2024?

Gareth Cattermole/Getty Images

While we haven't gotten an official update on whether Taylor Swift will join this season's SNL hosts, I'm hoping she will! She's already appeared on the show a number of times in a number of roles. She's hosted, made guest appearances, and been musical guest. And if you ask me, after a record-breaking Eras Tour, a special season like SNL50 is the perfect time for Taylor to reappear.

Pairing up Sabrina Carpenter (an Eras Tour opener) and Jake Gyllenhaal (one of Taylor Swift's ex-boyfriends) for the SNL49 finale feels like the kind of Easter egg Taylor herself would orchestrate!

When Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield presented together at the 95th Academy Awards, the internet lost their minds!! (Including yours truly, of course). But little did we know the duo actually had a rom-com in the works. (Pugh told Jimmy Fallon that the Academy also didn't know the actors were going to be working together, which makes their presentation even more fun). Deadline announcedWe Live In Time on March 14, 2023, and during the first week of April, we got the first set pictures of Pugh and Garfield traipsing around London. I haven't stopped thinking about it since! Here's everything you need to know about the new romance movie.

What have Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield said about We Live in Time?

A24

In a recent profile with British Vogue, Florence Pugh revealed just how nerve-wracking one particular We Live in Time scene was: cracking eggs one-handed. “That was what I was most terrified by,” she says. “Not the birthing scene. Not any of the illness. No, it was cracking the egg with one hand. I literally had two or three 12-dozen boxes of eggs and I would just be in the corner practicing.”

Florence Pugh also knew she wanted to be involved as soon as she read the script. "Especially as Brits, we grow up with the quirkiest and most beautiful of love stories. And I think it’s been a long time since we’ve had one of those,” she says in a Vanity Fair interview.

“When I read it, I just fell in love with the idea of getting to be in one of those movies that will matter to a lot of people, and will live for a long time. And it’s about the simplest of things, which is that we are here, I personally believe, for one reason only: to love and be loved.”

“I think for a long time, I’ve wanted to find something that is not necessarily as hardened or as powerful as my other characters,” she continues. “I think this came at the right time in my life. I got to play a very, very normal woman who is talented in her own ways. The story is about the powerful love, and the powerful connection, between two people.”

After starring as Jonathan Larson in Tick, Tick...Boom!, Garfield says taking the role of Tobias "was quite interesting to me on a performance-challenge level to be like, 'Okay, how do I play a guy who reads very ordinary and is comfortable in his ordinariness, having played someone who’s so obsessed with being extraordinary and genius?'”

The story, in which Pugh's Almut gets diagnosed with cancer, resonates with Garfield, who lost his mother to pancreatic cancer in 2019. “There’s a communing in the spirit of loss, in the shared experience of loss and love and the cost of loving and being fully alive,” he adds. “So I hope that we can all bond in the courage to do that.”

The poster for Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh's We Live in Time perfectly captures the cozy, warm-down-to-your-toes feeling that can come with falling in love. And with a tagline like "Every Minute Counts" (plus the fact the movie comes from Brooklyn director John Crowley), I'll definitely be in tears by the end.

"Making this movie was such an unbelievably beautiful experience," Florence Pugh says on Instagram. "I’m thrilled and proud to say that it’s nearly here for all of you to watch soon. In the meantime, here’s some pretty breadcrumbs ;)"

If the We Live in Time trailer is this beautiful, I can't imagine how incredible the movie is going to be. Love, life, family, good news, bad news — it feels so relatable because of all the situations Almut and Tobias go through. But the best part is they don't go through them alone.

What is the We Live In Time release date?

A24's We Live In Time will hit theaters October 11, 2024. It's one of our most-anticipated fall movies! At the New York City premiere of Dune 2 (watch our TikTok coverage here!), Florence Pugh talked about how much she loved making We Live In Time. "We just had the most beautiful time making it," she tells ET. "We made a real story about real people and I got to work with the most unbelievable actor that I feel so honored to be in his presence and shout lines back to him."

"It'll be here soon," she continues. "I'm just still in love with the process of making the movie, so I hope the people appreciate watching it."

What is We Live In Time about?

A24

Almut (Pugh) is a witty and determined chef, while Tobias (Garfield) is trying to figure out his place in the world after his recent divorce. When their paths cross, their lives change forever. "Through snapshots of their life together -- falling for each other, building a home, becoming a family -- a difficult truth is revealed that rocks its foundation," according to the official synopsis. "As they embark on a path challenged by the limits of time, they learn to cherish each moment of the unconventional route their love story has taken in filmmaker John Crowley’s decade-spanning, deeply moving romance."

Based on Pugh and Garfield's previous roles (plus the fact that screenwriter Nick Payne is also behind The Last Letter From Your Lover AND John Crowley also directed Brooklyn), we're confident it will be emotional. I'm going to be bringing tissues into the theater, for sure.

Who else is in the We Live In Time cast?

It looks like we'll see Adam James, Aoife Hinds, Marama Corlett, and Nikhil Parmar alongside Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield. Alas, this viral tweetabout Paul Mescal joining the film appears to have been an April Fool's joke.

Thanks to Deadline, we know that John Crowley is directing We Live In Time, Nick Payne is writing the script, and Benedict Cumberbatch is serving as an executive producer. Leah Clarke, Adam Ackland, and Guy Heeley will also produce.

The cast began filming We Live In Time in April of 2023, which is PERFECT rom-com weather if you ask me! Filming for the movie mainly took place around London.
