Demi Lovato Used Only Drugstore Products to Create That VMAs Hair
Your attention may have been on Demi Lovato’s ultra-sheer outfit at the 2017 MTV VMAs, but may we call your attention to her incredible hair? Those voluminous waves could have stolen the show all by itself. And, the best part: The drugstore products her hairstylist used only cost $20 total.
Celebrity stylist Christian Marc, on behalf of Dove, found inspiration for her hair in decades past. “For Demi’s look tonight, I was inspired by YSL models in the 70s; lots of texture, volume and a middle part that can’t be beat,” he said in a statement. “I applied a healthy dollop of Dove Style+Care Curls Defining Mousse ($4) and worked it throughout Demi’s hair, with special attention to the root, then proceeded to blow her hair out using my Harry Josh Pro Tools Dryer ($250),” he explained.
The pro then sprayed two-inch sections of hair with Dove Style+Care Flexible Hold Hairspray ($4) and curled the pieces with a Harry Josh Pro Tools Two-in-One 1.25in Curling Iron ($185). “I brushed her hair out for extra volume, and parted it down the middle for a natural 70s vibe,” he noted. To add shine and deal with flyaways, as well as define her curls, Marc applied Dove Absolute Curls Supreme Creme Serum ($6).
To finish, Marc spritzed her strands with Dove Refresh+Care Unscented Dry Shampoo ($4), Dove Refresh+Care Volume & Fullness Dry Shampoo ($4), and the Flexible Hold Hairspray and used a teasing comb to “piece out the curls even more and add volume and texture to the ends of her hair.”
Assuming you already have a dryer and curling iron, the whole style will only set you back $18. Not bad for such a glam look!
