While New York, London, Milan and Paris get at a lot of the attention, the fashion scene is bursting at the seams with big talent in places like Tokyo, Istanbul and Ukraine. These other fashion weeks fall somewhat under the radar, and it’s time we put an end to that. These designers aren’t afraid to go out on a limb, push the limits and even get a little wacky. And this was definitely the case at the MBFW Istanbul Fall/Winter 2015 shows. Seriously statement-making makeup and hair were everywhere to be seen. But the one look that really caught our eye was the over-the-top glittery strands at Ece Gözen.

These shimmery, glitter-dipped ‘dos spoke to Gözen’s inspiration for her “Galactic Dreams” collection: space, stars and the universe at large. The sparkly locks added the finishing touch to sleek, futuristic getups with extraterrestrial prints. Flecks of the shiny stuff were lightly incorporated at the top and crown of the head, with the ends heavily coated to create an in-your-face dip-dyed effect. Eyes also received a dusting of silver glitter to really drive the point home. (Photo via Stuart C. Wilson/Getty)

To rock this look IRL, all you need is a little glitter hairspray or gel. For spray, style hair as normal and then spritz all over, concentrating the spray at the ends for an eye-catching style. (Photo via Tristan Fewings/Getty)

For gel, apply liberally throughout wet or dry hair, or skip the top altogether and leave the shimmer for the tips. You can also pull hair back into a tousled knot or ponytail and apply glitter in streaks for an even more statement-making look. Gel will result in a bolder, more concentrated shimmer, while hairspray will have a more subtle effect. (Photos via Tristan Fewings/Getty)
