Guess Jeans U.S.A. Is Releasing an Anna Nicole Smith Capsule Collection 11 Years After Her Death
It’s been 11 years since Anna Nicole Smith died at the young age of 39, but her light is still burning bright, not only in the form of daughter Dannielynn Birkhead, who showed up at last year’s Kentucky Derby looking adorable as ever, but also through the fashion legacy she left behind as one of Guess’s most celebrated models. Guess Jeans U.S.A. is now honoring the late style star with a new capsule collection designed in collaboration with artist and photographer Cali Thornhill DeWitt (the man behind Kanye West’s “The Life of Pablo” Tour merch), and it’s one that’s been a long time coming.
Providing inspo for everyone from Paris Hilton to Jennifer Lopez for their own Guess ads, Smith’s likeness as featured in her 1992 GUESS campaign has been printed on a T-shirt ($90) and a sweatshirt ($170), both of which will be available in black or white and emblazoned with the words,“Did You Miss Me?” across the back.
Thornhill DeWitt explained why Smith was the perfect muse for his two-piece collection in a press release, saying, “When I started talking to GUESS about working on a project together, my immediate hope was to revisit the queen, Anna Nicole Smith. I missed seeing her on billboards, floating above Hollywood, looking out over the city.”
The brand also worked with the artist to resurrect those billboards of yore in support of his most recent solo exhibition, SAFE WORDS, running at Karma International Los Angeles through January 20.
The line will be available on Wednesday, January 17 at GUESS Jeans U.S.A. stores and online.
