A real-life Willy Wonka movie starring noted hottie Finn Wittrock? Say less. Well, actually, I'll say more. No, we're not getting a new adaptation of Roald Dahl's iconic novel, but we are getting a new biopic called Hershey, the sweet, sweeping epic about the life and times of America’s most famous chocolatier. And this is one movie that'll have you craving some sweets.

Here are 7 tidbits to leave you with a hankering for even more Hershey.

What is the Hershey movie about?

This story is about more than s’mores' best friend and everyone’s favorite chocolate bar. The movie covers nearly five decades of Milton S. Hershey’s life, from the early 1870s through the late 1910s, showing his journey from early struggles to building a global brand. Relatable? Not necessarily. Entertaining. Most definitely.

Who's in the Hershey cast?

Finn Wittrock steps into the role of chocolate magnate Milton S. Hershey, with Alexandra Daddario portraying his wife, Catherine "Kitty" Hershey. The film also features a delicious ensemble cast with Alan Ruck, Richard Kind (Only Murders fans rejoice!), and David Costabile. Here's the full Hershey cast:

  • Finn Wittrock as Milton S. Hershey
  • Alexandra Daddario as Kitty Hershey
  • Alan Ruck as Henry Hershey
  • Francesca Faridany as Fanny Hershey
  • Richard Kind as Joseph Royer
  • David Costabile as Tobias Thornhill
  • Heléne Yorke as Margaret
  • Michael Moreland Milligan as Lebbie
  • Daniel David Stewart as Murrie
  • Dina Spybey as Aunt Mattie

Who else is involved in the film?

If anyone understands drama, it's a director who's told the stories of teenage girls. The biopic is directed by Mark Waters, known for his work on Mean Girls, so yeah, we’re covered. The screenplay itself was penned by the stellar Sharon Paul and Timothy Michael Hayes.

What about the costumes?

If you’re not a huge chocolate fan, there are still plenty of reasons to get excited about this movie. Into fashion? Then hold your breath because Alexandra Daddario's character, Kitty Hershey, will showcase 54 custom-designed costumes throughout the film. The chocolate martini drinking game practically writes its own rules!

The first look behind the scenes of the movie shows Finn in a wonderful 3-piece suit and top hat (peep the mustache!) while Alexandra Daddario wears a gorgeous white blouse and blue skirt.

Where will the Hershey movie be filmed?

The real-life feel of Hershey didn’t come from nowhere. The film Hershey was filmed over seven weeks across 17 locations in Milton S. Hershey’s home state of Pennsylvania, utilizing thousands of pieces of chocolate during production. The man’s own home and the chocolate he so loved? That’s pretty special. Wonder if the extras got to take any home...

Dandelion Media

Yes, the movie is on its way! Per their press release, the flick is set to highlight Hershey’s significant contributions to education, community development, and philanthropy, offering a deeper look into the man behind the famous chocolate. It’s easy to forget that Hershey was a person and not just a chocolate mogul.

Where can I watch the Hershey movie?

Hershey is set to release in 2026, coinciding with the 250th anniversary of the United States. It makes sense, when you think about it. If there’s anything just as American as apple pie, it’s Hershey’s Kisses.
