My style is always a mix and match of nice pieces I鈥檝e collected over time and affordable pieces I鈥檝e had forever. You can use the example above if you鈥檙e setting a formal place setting for each guest. The charger, plates, napkin, napkin ring and gorgeous gold silverware are all from聽Sur La Table. Everything else is less expensive and totally achievable, no matter who you are or what your skill level is!

If you don鈥檛 have a big hostess budget, I suggest you make it a goal to buy one nice piece each Thanksgiving (like the pumpkin soup tureen or new stemware). Each year your tableware will grow, and you鈥檒l have the memory of when you added each piece.

Oftentimes the food itself serves as the centerpiece on Thanksgiving, but don鈥檛 hesitate to add some mini pumpkins, gourds or even leaves and branches from your yard to add to the texture and color on the table.
