Jane the Virgin Star Gina Rodriguez Is the Face of This New Fashion Campaign
We may only be a few weeks into spring but we’re already looking forward to the styles of summer, hold the humidity please. One of the big reasons propelling that excitement is the just-announced Kipling Summer 2015 campaign featuring Jane the Virgin star Gina Rodriguez. Now we don’t have to be annoyed with every #LillyforTarget piece selling out, thanks lady.
If you’re unfamiliar with the actress here’s a crash course — she is the star of The CW’s Jane the Virgin and recently won a Golden Globe for her work on the show, which was huge because Gina was only the second Latina woman to win the award in that category (after America Ferrera won for best actress in a TV comedy for Ugly Betty six years earlier). Insane, right?! It was also the first ever nomination for the broadcasting channel. Seriously, if you haven’t gotten into this dramedy what are you even doing with your life?! Thanks to the huge success of the show (and all-things-awesome Gina), the celeb-on-the-rise landed her very first fashion campaign with Kipling as the face and brand ambassador for the colorful bag + accessory company’s Make Happy movement.
While the released campaign shots highlight why the partnership is the perfect match, the actress and newly minted model shared with E! Online her thoughts on the pairing. “Kipling came into my life when I was a kid. We couldn’t afford it at the time, so I saved my allowance. When they came to me, it was like full circle. I mean, this is my childhood. This is the brand that I wanted to own when I was kid.” This full circle fashion moment is giving us all the feels. <3
