Don’t you wish there was something that would help you get from point A to point B faster, depending on your circumstance and the time of day? Well turns out, there’s an app for that — and it’s not Siri. When two Army vets turned tech entrepreneurs discovered that there wasn’t an easy way to find the best route to work, they took matters into their own hands. RideScout was born.
RideScout is a free mobile app (available for both iOS and Android) that gives you real-time info about all your transportation options. Not only can you search for travel times for public transportation, walking, biking or cabs, but you can also find options for pedicabs, car services, carsharing, carpooling, driving and peer-to-peer ride options. RideScout allows you to sort your options by travel time, cost and calorie count so you can figure out what’s best for you. This cool app can also help you find a parking spot, book a taxi and, if you’re taking a bus, it sends you alerts for when you should start walking to the bus stop! It’s basically like having a personal travel assistant at all times.
Currently, the app only works in Austin, San Francisco, DC, Boston and Chicago. But be on the lookout. They’re looking to expand to way more locales later this year.
Would you use the RideScout app to make your commute quicker? What’s your favorite map app? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
