The novel follows the story of a widowed man who is suffering the loss of his recently abducted eight-year-old son. He turns to his father, a former detective (also someone from whom he is entirely estranged), for help. However, through looking further into this case, they discover that it is connected to a case from several decades ago involving a serial killer known as "The Whisper Man," an individual who is tied to a long string of disappearances of young boys.

Who is behind 'The Whisper Man' with Netflix?

Chase Palmer and Ben Jacoby are co-writing this project, adapted from North's novel. Palmer has done several notable projects, famously including Stephen King's It. Jacoby is a writer on the upcoming horror film The First Omen, set to be released by 20th Century Fox. The project will be produced by Michael Disco, AGBO's President of Film. Kassee Whiting is set to executive produce along with Marcus Viscidi for AGBO. As for the film's director, Netflix has confirmed that James Ashcroft, a director based in New Zealand, is set to direct. Ashcroft is known for Coming Home in the Dark, which came out in 2021 and was with Dark Sky Films.
