Just last month, singer Elle King skipped out on her wedding to boyfriend Andrew “Fergie” Ferguson by attending a heavy metal concert instead of walking down the aisle. After a super cute proposal in the San Francisco bay, selecting her dress on TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress, and sharing her whirlwind romance via Instagram (an account that has now been deleted), King is now coming clean on why she did a 180 and pulled a runaway bride.

In an emotional post on her personal Instagram account, King admits that she and Fergie were actually married a few weeks after they met (on Valentine’s Day 2016) and that their big wedding was actually going to be their second. “My heart is broken. My soul aches. I am lost,” she said in her post. “He is the greatest love of my life. He is my best friend. As we separate, and attempt to find our footing through life, all I can hope for us is that we both find happiness within ourselves. I love you. You’ll always have my heart. You’ll always be my first husband.”

The singer continued, by saying, “Everybody thought I lost my mind and I did. So, be kind,” alluding to the fact that she pulled the runner to begin with. While the couple is parting ways, it seems King feels that her actions were what caused the split. We hope she’s able to find peace and resolution in the decision.
