The New ‘Addams Family’ Trailer Is Kooky (But Not Especially Spooky)
The Addams Family is returning to theaters this Halloween for some fun with a whole new cast, and today, April 9, we got our first look at the animated movie in the form of a new teaser trailer.
The teaser features the voices of Oscar Isaac and Charlize Theron as Gomez and Morticia Addams, respectively. Listen closely and you may also recognize Chloë Grace Moretz as the family’s freaky daughter, Wednesday Addams, and Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard as her brother, Pugsley.
“Don’t forget to kick your father goodnight,” Morticia reminds Wednesday.
Elsewhere in the teaser, Nick Kroll takes on the role of Uncle Fester. And yes, that’s Allison Janney as Margaux Needler. Even Bette Midler gets into the ghoulishness as Grandmama.
Based on the comic strip by Charles Addams, which has been adapted for both TV and film in the past, this new animated version sees the family trying to avoid a greedy TV host who wants to turn their lives into a reality show.
Tuesday’s teaser is the first footage we’ve seen from the movie, but the studio previously released the poster art, which aptly asks, “Think your family is weird?”
Charlize Theron shared the poster on March 30, tweeting, “I absolutely LOVE being a part of this iconic family. Thank you @meettheaddams for asking me to be your Morticia! My kiddos can’t wait!!! #MeetTheAddams”
The Addams Family hits theaters in October.
