Take a Tour of Brit Morin’s DIY Baby Nursery!

So, it happened. I had a baby. His name is Ansel.

Thank God, too, because I swear I thought I was going to be pregnant forever. It’s all fun and games until someone turns you into a Halloween pumpkin.

But I digress.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be revealing some trials, tribulations and creative learnings I’ve had throughout my entire pregnancy and new mom process thus far. First up, the nursery reveal!

This nursery was a true labor of love. I searched high and low across the interwebs to get inspired, and naturally started my process with a good old-fashioned Pinterest board. My husband and I were going after a modern-outdoorsy-tribal theme, since a) we love design, b) we love the outdoors and c) I’m part Native American (interesting fact, eh?). Oh, and as with all things I make, I knew this room had to have some serious COLOR. We didn’t find out beforehand whether it was a boy or girl, so I knew going the multi-colored route was a safe bet. Here was one of the original pins that inspired me:

I mean… what’s not to love!? I have to say, it’s difficult to make a colorful nursery without it turning into a bowl of rainbow vomit. I knew I had to tread a fine line here.

I didn’t really know what modern-outdoorsy-tribal would mean until I started collecting ideas and was immediately drawn to geometric triangle patterns like this.

After I racked up a ridiculous number of pins, I decided it was time to finally start narrowing in on some real decisions. So I turned to my trusty friend, Photoshop, to start pulling in images that could coordinate together based on ideas or themes. Here’s what it began to look like next.

I even used Photoshop to design the layout of the room. Given the fact that I’d never had a baby before, I had no idea if you needed the changing table to be super close to the crib, or if having a couch in a room was even useful. I emailed this around to a few of my girlfriends who were already moms to get their advice. Here’s a near-final layout I ended up with.

Now, it was time to tie all of this together into a Nursery Game Plan. I wanted to make sure that the furniture elements all worked together before I DIYed or bought any accessories, so once again, I made a collage in Photoshop.

I have to say that, though expensive, Oeuf makes incredibly well-designed nursery furniture. We purchased the crib and matching dresser (below) from them and haven’t been disappointed. The couch and the rug were both scores from CB2 and the womb chair was one we already had in our home. It’s a classic piece from Design Within Reach. Stay tuned for how we hacked it.

Before I get to the final product, let me just warn, yellow paint is scary. You can really go wrong if you get a bad shade. Some are too bright, some are too dull and some look like mustard gone bad. My advice: Try at least five swatches before deciding and make sure to look at them on your wall multiple times during the day, since the natural light will make the color look completely different.

At first, I thought we totally botched it. I was ready to repaint the entire room a soft gray. But once we added in the furniture and accessories, the color finally starting growing on me. Now I love it for the cheerfulness and warmth it brings to the room.

Okay okay, enough of the background plans. Here’s the final result!

Seriously, I could not love it any more. To me, it’s the perfect blend of everything we were attempting to represent. The modern-outdoorsy-tribal theme somehow worked (!), while maintaining a childlike playfulness. Yet it still feels cool enough for an adult… I wouldn’t mind if this were MY bedroom!

Next to those adorable DIY painted moccasins (given to me by a friend) are DIY feathers.

I purchased a few wooden dowels, spray painted them gold, hot glued some feathers on top, then wrapped with brown twine to conceal the glue marks. Oh, and those are simple strips of washi tape covering the dowels. I didn’t have a container to put them in, so I found a mason jar and wrapped it with brown twine. Ta-da! Katniss would be so proud.

While we’re at it, I have to point out the custom Baby Morin framed infographic art that one of our DIYers, Kelly, made for me. She cataloged all the things about my pregnancy (places I traveled, food cravings, etc) and made it into something I will always treasure.

See that wool in our B+C colors? That’s a yet-to-be-made baby blanket that I’m planning to knit, thanks to our friends at Wool in the Gang who recently taught our Knitting For Beginners e-class!

YOU GUYS. THE SHOES!!!

These were all gifts. I’m pretty sure he has more cowboy boots than real cowboys have. And I’m pretty sure I’m A-okay with that. Given my Texas roots and my husband’s Montana roots, this little dude is sure to be rocking boots his whole entire life.

Speaking of that “little dude”… say hello to Ansel!

Aren’t these Pantone toys adorable? He was also gifted tons of Pantone flash cards, books and puzzles. These gift givers know me so well ;)

Now back to wall art. Given I hadn’t actually had the baby during the time I was decorating my nursery, I had no photos to frame other than a 3D sonogram. And we all know how creepy those can be. So, I chose to go the DIY route once again, simply purchasing colorful scrapbook paper then using washi tape to create simple designs. I was originally planning to swap these out with some of his newborn photos, but at this point, I’ve gotten used to the colorful art and just might have to keep it around a bit longer!

Oh, and as for baby tech, our “monitor” is a Dropcam. It installs straight into the wall and lets you watch (and talk to!) your baby from the comfort of your phone, no matter where in the world you might be. I polled several sets of parents, and they all agreed this was the way to go.

Here’s a quick shot of the changing table. The teepee art is by an artist my husband and I found in Jackson Hole. Jackson also happens to be the place we got married AND Ansel’s middle name. It’s special for many reasons. The Oeuf dresser can hold quite a bit, but for extra storage, we stocked up on these great baskets from Serena & Lily. They work for laundry, toys, blankets and more. I have three!

How adorable is this moose? It was custom made by our friends at Anzfer Farms, a woodworking design team in San Francisco. It’s seriously one of my favorite parts about the entire room. They also turned my womb chair into a womb rocker by building some wooden legs (see below). Genius, huh!? These guys are legit talented when it comes to working with wood.

Overall, I’m thrilled with how this room turned out. I just hope little Ansel grows to love it as much as I do. You can’t say we didn’t expose him to a lot of color when he was young! ;)

Few books have made an impact on BookTok like Colleen Hoover's It Ends With Us. The story follows a woman named Lily who is intrigued by a new relationship with Ryle, but an encounter with her first love Atlas — and the reminders of her past that Atlas carries — complicates everything. This movie based on a bookwill be one to remember.

We had high hopes for this summer movie, and when it was announced that Justin Baldoni would develop the film in 2019, we knew the story was in good hands. Baldoni won us over with his role as Rafael in Jane The Virgin, and his feature directorial debut Five Feet Apart made us cry our eyes out. If you're a Colleen Hoover fan, keep reading for everything you need to know about It Ends With Us. Check out the rest of this year's 2024 movies too!

When is the It Ends With Us movie coming out?

Image via Sony Pictures Releasing

It Ends With Us will hit theaters August 9, 2024. With so much color, plus the fact Blake Lively's Lily runs a flower shop, a summer release is perfect! Because of the writers' strike and actors' strike, production on the film paused over the summer of 2023, meaning the movie got delayed from its original February 9 (then June 21) release date.

Who plays Lily in the It Ends With Us cast?

Image via Sony Pictures Releasing

Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni (who's also directing) are set to star in the film as Lily and Ryle, respectively. On April 20, 2023, it was announced that 1923 star Brandon Sklenar would join the duo as Atlas, and on May 1, Jenny Slate joined the cast as Ryle's sister Allysa. Hasan Minhaj joined the film on May 25 as Alyssa's husband Marshall.

Baldoni also posted a TikTok confirming that after an open casting call, they've found young Lily! Thanks to IMDb and some on-set TikToks, it looks like we'll be seeing Isabela Ferrer starring as the younger version of Blake Lively's character.

Fans were initially unhappy with Blake's casting, because in the book, Lily is supposed to be in her early 20s. But author Colleen Hoover explained a bit of the intention behind the casting with the TODAY Show, explaining that the "new adult" genre at the time favored characters in their early 20s — and that the point of the book is its message, not its cast or costumes.

“As an author, we make mistakes,” she says. “There’s no 28-year-old neurosurgeons, you know? You go to school for 15 years. And so to make corrections to what I messed up in the book, we aged the characters up somewhat...I love that there’s discourse surrounding it, I do. I think that people are going to be very pleased. I’m very pleased.”

What is It Ends With Us about?

It Ends With Us follows Lily Bloom after she moves out of her small town to start a flower shop in Boston. When she meets Ryle on a rooftop and quickly falls head over heels, it seems like fate. That is, until she comes face-to-face with her first love Atlas. It's a story of strength, deep-rooted relationships, and identity that made waves on social media.

Where was It Ends With Us filmed?

Image via Sony Pictures Releasing

It Ends With Us has been filming in New Jersey. The first set images from It Ends With Us are from a scene that takes place between Lily and Ryle. While Baldoni is wearing a simple black sweater, Lively is wearing two different shades of pink over a brown dress. I love the way costumes highlight all the ways characters are different, and this is the perfect example!

On January 6, 2024, Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni were finally spotted in Jersey City again. While the costumes have gotten some backlash, I really love the texture and visual interest in this patchwork jacket + jeans combo! It feels creative and bright — just like Lily :).

And on April 30 we FINALLY got the first official images from the movie and everything looks incredible! The colors are just as bright and yet still have some emotional weight behind them to match the story. I'm particularly obsessed with this Blake Lively outfit — I'm a sucker for a jeans + tank + cardigan combo.

What scenes have the cast filmed?

Image via Sony Pictures Releasing

On January 15, 2024, a video of Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni filming another It Ends With Us movie scene went viral on TikTok, and users are convinced they know which scene we're seeing in the video. Blake and Justin are walking around outside of a restaurant, which leads fans to believe this is Lily and Ryle's confrontation after they see Atlas in his restaurant for the first time.

Is Colleen Hoover making a movie out of It Ends With Us?

Image via Sony Pictures Releasing

Yes, we're getting a movie adaptation of It Ends With Us! Filming began in New Jersey the first week of May 2022 and is expected to wrap in early 2024. But after a recent leak from the movie set, one question that's top of mind is whether we're actually getting two movies. The scene, which features Blake Lively's Lily pushing a baby in a swing, doesn't take place in the original novel and fans are wondering whether the film will also use elements from It Starts With Us, the 2023 sequel Colleen Hover published.

"It Ends With Us doesn't have this scene," one TikToker wrote in the comments. "This is definitely It Starts With Us," another added. Now that there are two books, it's totally plausible that they've added elements to the end of the film that set up a sequel movie — and we are totally here for it!

Who else is working on the film?

Image via Sony Pictures Releasing

According to Deadline, Lively, Baldoni, Hoover, Steve Sarowitz, and Andrew Calof are all serving as executive producers, while Alex Saks, Christy Hall, and Jamey Heath are producing. Hall is also penning the script for the film.

Fans who were left on the edge of their seats after watching the first part of AHS: Delicate last year won't have to wait longer for part two! Emma Roberts and Kim Kardashian are gearing up to pick up where their characters left off, and sinister twists are about to get much darker. While we know the focus revolves around their interactions, we can't wait to see how Gilmore Girls star Matt Czuchry fits into what's sure to be a big reveal.

Read on for a mini recap of part one of AHS: Delicateand learn all the juicy details about part two!

Recap of Kim Kardashian's involvement in AHS: Delicate

Image via FX Networks

Kim Kardashian as 'Siobhan' in "American Horror Story: Delicate"

As good as Kim Kardashian is as the icy publicist Siobhan on AHS: Delicate, don't expect her to watch herself onscreen. She appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live yesterday and explained why she hasn't seen herself in clips of the show when Jimmy Kimmel played and unsettling one.

Her character can be seen intimidating a fertility doctor to do her bidding as she pierces the top of his neck with a long orange fingernail. She smiled before saying "It's so funny, I can't watch it back," and then added, "I get so nervous."

She even talked about the difference between filming for TV and working as an actual actress. She said, "I called my sisters and I go, 'Guys. You — not to say you'd ever want to get into acting — but you are so lucky you can wake up and just, we can sit in bed and film, and you don't have to get up...like there is no schedule."

However, it seems like the budding actress took her new schedule in stride because Star Trek actor and AHS co-star Zachary Quinto applauded Kardashian’s acting chops.

“I did a cameo on this season of ‘American Horror Story’ and I got to meet her,” the actor told People. “She was so lovely and warm and, really, I don’t think she needs my advice.” Quinto added, sharing that Kardashian, was “really in her element” on set and he was “really impressed by her spirit and her openness…I really look forward to seeing this season because I think she’s gonna do a wonderful job.”

Recap of AHS: Delicate Part 1

Image via FX Networks

The first part of AHS: Delicate premiered on FX September 20, 2023 and centered around actress Anna Victoria Alcott's desire to become a mother. Played by Emma Roberts, viewers watched as her husband Dexter Harding (played by Matt Czuchry) was supportive of her IVF procedure so the couple could conceive their first child. Despite the previous struggles, the procedure is a success and the happy couple learn they have a baby on the way.

However, things go horribly wrong when Anna starts being followed and eventually experiences a violent miscarriage during her first trimester. Somehow the baby actually survives, but Anna still experiences a series of strange hallucinations and events. From losing her hair to vomiting a foreign object, she starts to wonder if something is wrong with her baby. There's also the fact that she told her publicist Siobhan (played by Kim Kardashian) that she'd do anything to remain at the top of the her career.

What's revealed is that a baby cult does exist and Dexter's dead first wife knew all about it. However, the cult still looks at him as a threat so it's only a matter of time before they close in.

If you need a refresher, catch up on the first part of AHS: Delicate on Hulu and be sure to check out the eery trailer for a look at part two! Also, get your hands on a copy of Danielle Valentine’s novel Delicate Condition to see how the story truly unfolds.

American Horror Story: Delicate Part Two | Official Trailer - Emma Roberts, Kim Kardashian | FX

We suspected Siobhan may have a darker role than Anna thinks and the trailer confirms it. As Anna gets further along in her pregnancy, it's hinted that her growing baby may not be 'normal' and there's nothing she'll be able to do about it.

We're crossing our fingers for Anna and Dexter, but the baby cult may have the final say in AHS: Delicate Part 2.

The first portion of AHS: Delicate Part 2 premiered on FX April 3, 2024, but the series will come to a close beginning April 24. All we can say is things are about to get extremely bumpy 👀.

What do you think will happen during the final moments of AHS: Delicate Part 2? Let us know in the comments!

I'm so inspired by coastal decor in all of its renditions, from the Nancy Meyer’s-inspired coastal grandmother to elegant and coastal luxemodern, from California surf shacks to Cape Cod cottages. While coastal decor can be an all-year decor trend that combines fresh whites, soft blues and natural elements like jute, wood, and rattan, it’s around this time of year that I start to really embrace the relaxed and refined aesthetic. Here are 20 coastal accents to refresh your home for the season.

Coastal by Gray Malin

Coffee table books are a great way to bring in a coastal aesthetic. New York Times bestselling author and photographer Gray Malin is known for his aerial beach photography in the U.S. This new collection highlights coastal locations from around the world.

Spoonflower Peel & Stick Art Deco Swans Wallpaper

This removable and eco-friendly wallpaper (water-based inks and no toxins) features a swan graphic in a seaside color for a breezy addition to any room.

Aitken Flatweave Cotton Geometric Rug

This boho cotton rug also leans into the greener side of coastal decor with a fun polka dot print.

Nauvoo Dresser Mirror

Bring in natural elements like wood and rattan to keep your coastal decor casual and earthy.

Surf Tribe Book by Stephan Vanfleteren

This photo book shows surf culture in a new light, showing the passion for nature and respect for the ocean that surfers universally have.

The Citizenry Meru Counter Stool

Bringing in natural elements in a refined way is a key part of coastal decor. These modern counter stools in a beautiful ethically-harvested mindi wood are handcrafted by fair-trade artisans in Jepara, Indonesia.

Pendleton White Sands Printed Quilt Set

Inspired by sand dunes against a blue sky, this machine-washable cotton quilt is a nod to the serene landscape of New Mexico's White Sands National Monument.

Indigo Surf Textile Art

This textile art features hand-cut vintage dark indigo lettering on a lighter indigo background and a small wave stitched detail. It comes with the salt oak frame and each one is one of a kind.

Blu Dot Invitation 24" Bench

Woven seating in a white oak wood frame brings in the sandy colored hues of coastal decor. Blu Dot is one of my favorite modern decor brands, and this quiet luxury bench is so lovely IMO.

Nathan James Outdoor Patio Loveseats (set of 2)

Extend your coastal decor to the great outdoors with these acacia wood loveseats and chairs with washable cushions.
