Hallmark Channel’s Jen Lilley on ‘Mingle All the Way’ and Her Own Special Holiday Traditions

We look forward to the Hallmark Channel’s “Countdown to Christmas” lineup all year. There’s just something about the feel-good films that makes us, well, feel good. And 2018’s slate features literally dozens of new movies, including Mingle All the Way, which premieres Saturday, December 1. It stars Brant Daugherty and Days of Our Lives actress Jen Lilley, who has appeared in several Hallmark Channel originals from other seasons but is making her “Countdown to Christmas” debut this year.

“I grew up in Virginia, where Hallmark Channel is king. So I’m really excited to join the holiday family,” Lilley told Brit + Co in a recent chat. “For me, Hallmark became part of my family because there was a Hallmark store that sold cards and ornaments right by the grocery store where I grew up. So, every Christmas, my mom, my dad, my two brothers, my sister, and I would go to the Hallmark store, and my parents would get us a Hallmark Christmas ornament. So Hallmark has always been a part of my Christmas. And then when they formed Hallmark Channel and started doing all of the Hallmark Channel Christmas movies, that just naturally folded into my Christmas traditions.”

Below, Lilley tells us more about her holiday traditions, what to expect from Mingle All the Way, and a new project that’s close to her heart.

Brit + Co: Why do you think people love Hallmark movies so much, especially around the holidays?

Jen Lilley: They’ve become just such a key part of everyone’s holidays, and I think one of the many reasons Hallmark Channel is so successful, in general, is that there’s just so much tension going on in our society and around the world. Right, left, front, center, whatever you are, there’s racial tension, there’s political tension, there’s economic tension. And it’s so nice to have a channel that really is empowering and uplifting and happy and safe for everyone of all ages. I think that’s one of the keys to their success.

B+C: You’ve done several Hallmark Channel original movies now. Do you have a favorite of the ones you’ve done?

JL: Obviously they’re all rom-coms, and they’re all very on brand with Hallmark. But each character is so unique that I can’t really pinpoint which one is my favorite. A Dash of Love has a really special place in my heart, though, because 1) it was my induction into the Hallmark family, which was really a dream come true for me, and 2) Valentine’s Day is my favorite holiday. And Frank Sinatra’s “The Way You Look Tonight” was in that movie, and that’s my favorite song, so that was really amazing for me. But they’ve all been amazing. I haven’t had any mediocre experiences. I’ve done one for each season, so they’ve all had their charms.

I’m really excited about Mingle All the Way. Obviously I love Christmas, I love Christmas music, and the idea of becoming part of someone’s positive memories from Christmas because they watch the movie — I think that’s the greatest thing.

B+C: Mingle All the Way is such a good title. So what should we expect from the movie?

JL: It obviously follows the rom-com formula we all love, but it’s a little outside the box. My character Molly creates an app for entrepreneurs who are really focused on their work and don’t necessarily want a relationship but need a platonic plus-one for all of the holiday parties they get invited to. If it’s not a real app, it should be. The funny thing about Molly is that she has zero interest in signing up for her own app. And her assistant, Tyler, played by the amazing Casey Manderson — I don’t know if you know who Casey Manderson is, but you’re about to, and I think he is just God’s gift to humanity — he signs Molly up. And Brant Daugherty’s character, Jeff, signs up because he needs to impress his boss. And then of course, love ensues.

It’s very witty, it’s very funny — there are like 20 or 30 holiday parties we go to. It was like walking into 25 different Pinterest boards.

B+C: And you have two songs in the movie, correct?

JL: Yes! Years ago, I came out with a Christmas album called Tinsel Time. It was just a pet project for me, but it ended up going to number one on Amazon! So now two of my songs, “Tinsel Time” and “Jingle Bells (Reprise),” are in Mingle All the Way. And that Christmas CD is what led me to record a regular studio album.

B+C: What can you tell us about that album?

JL: It has a retro vibe, it’s very empowering, it’s music that is going to uplift and be really cathartic for people. One thing that my producer Adrian [Gurvitz] worked with me a lot on is the art of storytelling. And he really explained to me, you know, it doesn’t matter if you hit the notes as much as it does if you’re telling the story well. Good music tells a story that people relate to. So hopefully it really takes people through a musical journey and a story where they come out on the other side and feel really empowered. Like, “I feel like I am worthy of being in a relationship or empowered to not be in a relationship. I’m comfortable with myself, and liking myself, and ready to give love.”

And there’s a philanthropic element, too. It’s music that gives. My first single, “King of Hearts,” came out in October. And through that, we were able to raise money for a young boy in Uganda to have life-saving heart surgery. It was like such a little Christmas miracle. So I donated to Project Orphans for the single, and then going forward, 100 percent of my share of the profits will go toward charities that focus on orphans and foster care, since that’s something I really care about.

B+C: That’s great. And very much in the spirit of giving for this season. Besides your tradition of going to Hallmark to pick out an ornament as a kid, do you have any current holiday traditions that are really special to you?

JL: Yes! I’m a foster and adoptive parent — I have a two-and-a-half-year-old who we’re still in the process of adopting, and we also have his little seven-month-old brother this year. So I’m super excited. My two-year-old is really into Play-Doh, so I’m really excited about making sugar cookies, because I feel like he’s going to pretty good at the cookie-cutter game, and pretty awful at the decorating game, and it’s going to be really fun.

B+C: Messy decorations are always the best.

JL: Yeah, exactly. The ugliest cookies are the best ones.

There's something appealing about an anthology show. You know, the ones where we get a new cast every season but the location or the themes remain the same (hello White Lotus and American Horror Story!). Your next TV show obsession is right around the corner because Hulu just announced the full lead cast for Nine Perfect Strangers season 2 and it's literally almost too good to be true. Keep reading for everything you need to know!

When does Nine Perfect Strangers season 2 come out?

Image via Vance Valitutti/Hulu

We don't have an official release date for Nine Perfect Strangers season 2 yet, so feel free to rewatch season 1 as many times as you want ;). Production *did* begin in January of 2024, and considering there was a year between the filming of season 1 and its release, it's safe to assume we'll see Nine Perfect Strangers season 2 at the end of 2024 or the beginning of 2025.

Who's in the Nine Perfect Strangers cast?

Image via Vance Valitutti/Hulu

Hulu just announced that Nine Perfect Strangers season 2 will star Murray Bartlett from The White Lotus and The Last of Us, Annie Murphy from Schitt's Creek, and Christine Baranski from Mamma Mia. We'll also see Dolly De Leon, Aras Aydin, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, musician King Princess, and Lucas Englander. The latest additions to the cast include our AMC queen Nicole Kidman and A Simple Favor's Henry Golding, as well as Mark Strong and Lena Olin.

What is Nine Perfect Strangers about?

Image via Vance Valitutti/Hulu

Nine Perfect Strangers season 1, which is based on the book by Big Little Lies author Liane Moriarty and stars Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy, Regina Hall, and Samara Weaving, follows nine strangers who meet at a health and wellness resort to unwind from the stress of city life. However, their 10-day retreat quickly spirals into something completely different — and a little more sinister — than they expected.

Will there be a season 2 for Nine Perfect Strangers?

Image via Vance Valitutti/Hulu

Yes, we're getting a Nine Perfect Strangers season 2! Even though the show was supposed to be a limited series, it was so popular Hulu decided to announce the renewal in June 2023. Thank goodness.

How is Nine Perfect Strangers different from the book?

Image via Vance Valitutti/Hulu

There are some pretty big difference between Nine Perfect Strangers and its novel. It seems like they just wanted to up the ante for television viewers because the main differences are in the intensity of scenes or character traits, like Carmel being much more expressive than she is in the book, and the series cutting out a five-day silence. It's super cool to see how Hulu adapted this series — and since it's based on a single book, Nine Perfect Strangers season 2 will feature a whole new plot!

What does the ending of Nine Perfect Strangers mean?

Image via Vance Valitutti/Hulu

Throughout the series, there are lots of themes of trust and whether or not we're actually able to find happiness as humans. The Nine Perfect Strangers ending during season 1 wraps it up perfectly by leaving happiness as a more open-ended concept full of hope — one that shows it's never outside the realm of possibility, even if it's not a definite guarantee.

Before they were publicly seen together, we were dying to know if singer Sabrina Carpenter was actually dating actor Barry Keoghan. Rumors about their relationship cropped up in late 2023, and they're definitely not rumors anymore!

The pair made their *official* debut at the 2024 Met Gala, and they looked so cute together. Barry also enthusiastically supported Sabrina's Coachella performance last month, and we've been obsessed ever since. Since the two have been romantically linked for a while now, we’re taking a deeper look at their history and their chemistry.

Here’s everything you need to know about Sabrina Carpenter and her boyfriend, Barry Keoghan!

Who is Sabrina Carpenter?

Frazer Harrison / Getty Images

Sabrina Carpenter is a 24-year-old actress and singer. Her most popular acting roles began on Disney Channel from 2014 to 2017 with Girl Meets World and 2016’s Adventures in Babysitting.

Sabrina has been releasing original music since 2014, and her 2022 album titled Emails I Can’t Send landed her her first-ever top-40 chart entry. Her songs “Nonsense” and “Feather” are two of her top-listened tracks on Spotify.

Sabrina also opened for Taylor Swift at the Eras Tour in 2023.

Additionally, she's worked as a brand ambassador for Converse, Aeropostale, and Samsung, and launched a fragrance line in collaboration with Scent Beauty.

Sabrina was suspected to be dating singer Shawn Mendes last year, but he dispelled rumors about it very publicly in March 2023.

Who is Barry Keoghan?

Frazer Harrison / Getty Images

Barry Keoghan is an award-winning 31-year-old Irish actor. He’s well-known for his roles in Dunkirk, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, Eternals, and Saltburn. He has also been in several TV series, from HBO’s Chernobyl to Apple TV+’s Masters of the Air.

Barry was previously dating girlfriend Alyson Kieran since September 2021, but the pairbroke up in July 2023 after Barry started seeing success for his performance in the film The Banshees of Inisherin. An inside source close to the couple said “they’ve grown apart over recent months and things have finally come to a head. As far as [Alyson is] concerned, it’s over.”

Barry and Alyson still share a young son named Brando, born in August 2022.

September 2023

In late September 2023, Sabrina attended an NYC advanced screening of Saltburn, a dark comedy film in which Barry stars. The pair was not seen together, but they were definitely in the same place at the same time.

The pair reportedly met for the first time during Paris Fashion Week at the Givenchy spring/summer 2024 show, just a week after the advanced screening.

December 2023

Sabrina and Barry were spotted on a casual dinner date in Los Angeles in December 2023. They weren’t quite visibly affectionate or close together in photos, but shared the same car.

January 2024

Sabrina and Barry were suspected to attend the 2024 Golden Globes together to debut their relationship, but the pair ended up attending separately.

The two were later spotted out and about at LA’s Luna Luna interactive art installation later in January.Eyewitness accounts said "it definitely seemed like a date.” 👀

February 2024

In early February 2024, the duo was seen gettin’ cozy with each other at a Grammys after party. Someone had snapped a pic of them sitting next to each other, but it appeared they were pretty shy about showing their whole faces. Cute!

The couple confirmed their romance just around Valentine's Day with a fun-filled weekend in Los Angeles (with plenty of PDA, of course). They started out with dinner at Nobu before checking into Hotel Bel-Air. They next day, they spent time together at Sabrina's house in Hollywood and then went out on the town in style!

As much as we can tell, Sabrina and Barry are just having fun with it!

March 2024

The 2024 Oscars marked Sabrina and Barry's first red carpet appearance as a couple! The pair pulled up in semi-coordinating outfits – her wearing a black sequined Tory Burch gown, him wearing a sleek black suit by Amiri.

Barry also accessorized his Oscars look with a beaded friendship bracelet (a la Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce) that spelled out Sabrina's name!

Photographed side-by-side several times, the couple also took the chance to reference their silly Grammys photo by hiding their faces for the camera. Love!

April 2024

On April 1, Barry left a fiery comment on Sabrina's Instagram. She posted a carousel promoting the new spring 2024 intimates collection from Skims, packed with steamy pics of her wearing pieces from the drop.

Barry's comment was "🔥🥵 barbie emoji," which is just too cute. Since Sabrina is known over social media as a Bratz doll, we love to see this brand new Barbie side!

April 2024

Barry – being the supportive boyfriend he is – was spotted in the crowd at Sabrina's Coachella weekend 1 set, and the couple shared a few cute moments even when they were apart!

Barry was seen happily snapping pictures on his phone like a proud parent during the high-energy performance. Sabrina also cutely waved to Barry from the stage, and he was definitely fangirling over it! We would be fangirling too, TBH! 🔥

After Sabrina's set, the pair was spotted together in the crowd at Ice Spice's performance alongside friends Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. The four appeared to just be hanging out and chatting among themselves in between songs!

May 2024

The couple stepped out together to attend the 2024 Met Gala. Sabrina sported a gorgeous black gown with blooming blue details while Barry's look channeled a 19th century Englishman. They posed together with their signature 'hands over the face' pose, with Barry using his hat as a shield. We are enamored by these two!

This post has been updated.

It's always a good day when a movie based on a book gets announced, and my heart SOARED when Paramount Pictures announced Tomorrow, And Tomorrow, And Tomorrow would be turned into a film. The story has so many elements that every book and movie fan will love, from coming of age and best friend bonds to relationship drama and just enough sci-fi without making you feel like you've left earth. The book also spent more than 50 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list AND sold over 2.8 million copies around the world — and the movie is sure to have just as much of an impact. Here's everything you need to know about the movie.

Are they making Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow into a movie?

Image via Amy Sussman/Getty Images

Yes, Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow is becoming a movie! Deadline confirmed on May 3 that Coda director Siân Heder would direct the film, and after author Gabrielle Zevin wrote a draft of the script, Mark Bomback wrote the final draft.

When is Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow coming out?

Image via Amazon

The movie is still in pre-production, which means Paramount has to find the movie cast and then film, so it will probably be the end of 2025 before we see the finished product. Rather than perfectly tying to one season, I could see this movie as either a spring movie or a fall movie, so it'll all come down to actors schedules, production, and when they're able to film!

Who's in the Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow movie cast?

Image via Theo Wargo/Getty Images for Karl Lagerfeld

We don't have an official cast of Tomorrow, And Tomorrow, And Tomorrow yet but fans are going to TOWN with their dream casts! The most popular fancast for Sadie is Euphoria's Maude Apatow, while The White Lotus' Will Sharpe is the go-to for Sam.

What is Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow about?

Image via Matilda Wormwood/Pexels

Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow follows Sam and Sadie, childhood best friends who reunite during their time in college; Sam's at Harvard and Sadie's at MIT but they're both as passionate about video games as the day they met. The story spans 30 years (and both US coastlines) and explores identity, disability, friendship, and betrayal.

"These friends, intimates since childhood, borrow money, beg favors, and, before even graduating college, they have created their first blockbuster, Ichigo," the official synopsis reads. "Overnight, the world is theirs. Not even twenty-five years old, Sam and Sadie are brilliant, successful, and rich, but these qualities won’t protect them from their own creative ambitions or the betrayals of their hearts."

What is Ichigo based on Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow?

Image via Lucas Ortiz/Unsplash

Ichicgo, the game that Sam and Sadie into stardom, is based on Hokusai's The Great Wave at Kanagawa. You can see that inspiration with the book's cover art too!

After The Gray Man and a year full of Barbie and Ken, The Fall Guy (plus the upcoming Ocean's 11 prequelwith Margot Robbie) continues to prove Ryan Gosling is THE definition of a star. And between his friendship with Emma Stone and his relationship with Eva Mendes,Ryan seems like the kind of guy we'd all want to be best friends with — and not just because of his endless #Kenergy.

Not only is Ryan the sweetest partner, he's also the ultimate girl dad to daughters Esmeralda and Amada. Their "interest in Barbie and disinterest in Ken," as Ryan tells People, get him to Barbieland in the first place, but he also just revealed they "asked specifically" he avoid one The Fall Guy stunt. “My kids didn't want me to be set on fire,” he says. “Even though I said, ‘Well, it's actually, technically the safer thing to do because there's a lot of protective stuff involved, [they] were like, ‘No. No fire.’ So I didn't do it.”

It's clear that Ryan Gosling's children are spitfires and I love to see it! Here's everything you need to know about Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling's kids — and every single time Ryan Gosling was the ultimate girl dad.

How many children do Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes have?

Image via Jon Kopaloff/Getty Images

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes have two children, Esmerelda Amada and Amada Lee. Amada was named after Eva's grandmother — both my sister and I have family names and I love seeing the way different families carry on that tradition!

How old are Ryan Gosling's kids?

Image via Daniel Boczarski/Getty Images for Universal Pictures

Esmerelda was born in September 2014, meaning she'll turn 10 this fall. Amada just turned 8 at the end of April!

How does Ryan Gosling prioritize his kids?

Image via Lionsgate

In his recent profile with WSJ, Ryan Gosling revealed he only picks roles that will benefit his whole family. "I don't really take roles that are going to put me in some kind of dark place," Ryan says. "The decisions I make, I make them with Eva and we make them with our family in mind first."

"I think La La Landwas the first," he continues. "It was sort of like, 'Oh this will be fun for them too, because even though they're not coming to set, we're practicing piano every day or we're dancing or we're singing.'"

Every couple needs to figure out what prioritizing their kids looks like for them, and considering how much I love all Ryan's recent roles, I'd say this is a shift that benefits everyone ;).

When did Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes have their daughters?

Image via Andrew Toth/Getty Images for New York & Company

Eva Mendes gave birth to Esmerelda on September 12, 2014 and later had Amada on April 29, 2016.

Are Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes still together?

Image via Sonia Recchia/Getty Images

Yes, Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes are still going strong, and thank goodness. Eva just revealed that Ryan provides a ton of support for her. "When I was 40, it was a big deal for people when I was pregnant, and it wasn't for me," she tells People. "And then I was 42 and I was pregnant with my second one and people were like, 'Oh my God, you're going to be so tired. That's why people have kids in their 20s.' I was like, that's the most sorry, asinine thing I've ever heard."

"[Ryan supports me] in all the ways I need to be supported," she continues. "He's got me in all the ways."

How has fatherhood affected Ryan Gosling?

Image via Hector Vivas/Getty Images

Considering Ryan Gosling's daughters are such a huge part of his life now, it's hard to believe that earlier in life, he wasn't sure he wanted kids. "After I met Eva, I realized that I just didn’t want to have kids without her," he tells GQ. "And there were moments on The Place Beyond the Pines where we were pretending to be a family, and I didn’t really want it to be pretend anymore." Now, I'm going to need you to pause and reread that quote because I can't believe that's a real sentence. I'm obsessed!

A source also told People in 2023 that "Ryan is such a fun dad. He is goofy and his girls love it."

Via WSJ, we also know that since Ryan Gosling's kids have started learning Spanish, they now call him Papi. "It kills me every time," he says. "There's just nothing, nothing better than that."

What has Eva Mendes said about their daughters?

Image via Eva Mendes/Instagram

Eva Mendes is just as obsessed with her and Ryan Gosling's children as he is, and she's talked about how they make life so much better. "Oh April…I have such a complicated relationship with you," she says on Instagram. "[April 2] would have been my brother’s birthday…..in a couple of weeks from now is the day we lost him…but then, the end of April we got the biggest blessing of all, my little girl was born 8 years ago. I hate you April. But I love you more."

Stop what you’re doing! Folks, the Starbucks summer menu is in full swing, and you need to try it now. The chain – in addition to the spicy drinks that hit menus on April 16 – just launched a never-before-seen lineup of Refreshersthat include popping boba – just as we predicted! Starbucks also introduced a few fruityfood items, too.

The new items on the Starbucks summer menu are the perfect fit for the season. Scroll on for everything you can order now, plus a review of the spicy Refreshers so you can suss 'em out for yourself.

When did the Starbucks summer menu come out?

The Starbucks summer menu came out in two different phases: the spicy Refreshers launched on April 16, while the boba drinks and more come out on May 7.

Does Starbucks have boba?

Photo by Telly Mina / PEXELS

Yes – with the new summer menu items, Starbucks officially has boba!

Starbucks has never served boba nationwide before this, but they did test it regionally for a brief period in late 2021. According to Tasting Table, only two Starbucks locations (one in California, one in Washington) tested out coffee boba pearls back then. The pearls were also popping boba (like the new summer drinks), but weren't received super well.

One person that tried the boba drinks in 2021 said the pearls were "really small and awkward to drink." People engaging in online discourse about the coffee boba pearls weren't happy about the attention and revenue the boba could potentially take away from small businesses serving authentic Taiwanese boba.

Everything On The Starbucks Summer Menu

NEW! Summer-Berry Starbucks Refresher

The Starbucks summer menu lists a brand-new line of iced Refresher drinks, with the Summer-Berry flavor leading! And... it has boba!

This new sip is described as "a sweet summer blend of raspberry, blueberry and blackberry flavors mixed with water, lemonade or coconut milk and shaken with ice." It's poured over raspberry-flavored popping boba, which amps up the berry vibes even more!

NEW! Summer-Berry Lemonade Refresher

This next sip is shaken with lemonade rather than water, which gives it a citrusy, zingy effect. Lemonade is the perfect bev for summertime, and I have a hunch it could pair really well with the raspberry boba pearls!

NEW! Summer Skies Drink Refresher

The Starbucks summer menu is heating up with this creamy drink! This one's essentially the Summer-Berry Refresher with a splash of coconut milk, much like the Starbucks Pink Dink. It also includes fruity boba! Starbucks will begin to supply wider green straws to help you sip up the pearls.

White Chocolate Macadamia Cream Cold Brew

We've seen this drink on Starbucks menus before, and it's made its return for summer 2024, and I am so excited. The White Chocolate Macadamia Cream Cold Brew features "Starbucks signature cold brew sweetened with macadamia syrup, topped with a silky white-chocolate macadamia cream cold foam and finished with toasted cookie crumbles," according to Starbucks.

I feel like nutty flavors are more fit for fall, but it's nice that Starbucks is offering an option for the warmer months with this returning iced coffee drink!

NEW! Orange Cream Cake Pop

The Starbucks summer menu also introduced a brand-new cake pop! The Orange Cream Cake Pop is described as "orange cream cake mixed with buttercream, dipped in chocolatey icing and finished with an orange slice design." The cute orange slice design honestly does it for me. I love an orange Dreamsicle!

NEW! Pineapple Cloud Cake

This new sweet snack is described as an "airy cake layered with a lightweight pineapple cream and pineapple spread with whole fruit pieces all topped with a sweet drizzle." It looks so yum.

What People Were Saying About The Starbucks Summer Menu Rumors

IG @markie_devo

The Starbucks summer menu rumors sparked a fair amount of excitement online. A few commenters on @markie_devo's initial menu leak post said the proposed lineup looks appetizing and exciting.

"Now this looks good 💯🔥," one person wrote. "Finally something DIFFERENT," another said.

Some Starbucks fans were anticipating entirely different drinks for the summer menu, like the S'mores Frappuccino that came out in 2019.

"Where's the smores frapp😫," the first comment reads. "Wish they’d bring back the S’mores Frappuccino 😔," another wrote.

Starbucks isn't the first big coffee chain to add boba to their menu. Dunkin' had featured strawberry-flavored popping pearls on their menu back in 2021, and Dutch Bros just debuted their version in February 2024. Some Starbucks customers commenting on the menu rumors noticed this.

"Stole from Dutch lmao," one person wrote. "Dunkin did it first lol. But these are super interesting," another said.

Starbucks Is Doing Something Spicy...

Spicy Dragonfruit Refresher

Rumors about some spicy Starbucks Refreshers were floating around the internet after @markie_devo posted a potential lineup. The first drink (of three new Refreshers) is the Spicy Dragonfruit Refresher. The drink is your traditional fruity Refresher, except shaken with lemonade and a new Spicy Chili Powder Blend to bring a nice kick of flavor!

I got to try it out first thing on launch day, and I have got to say that the spice in this drink somehow makes this the most "dragonfruit" dragonfruit drink I’ve ever had from Starbucks. And it's good! Of course, I expected my sips to be spicy, but I underestimated just how much spice would be included. I personally think it’s such a nice balance between sweet and spicy, but I could see where it may be too much for non-spice-lovers.

The spicy Refreshers will be available for limited time. They were released in stores on April 16, 2024.

Spicy Strawberry Refresher

The Spicy Strawberry Refresher is the most refreshing of all the spicy Starbucks drinks. It's just the OG Strawberry Refresher base shaken with zesty lemonade, ice, fruit bits, and the chili spice blend.

When I ordered the Spicy Strawberry Refresher, I was not expecting it to come out an orange color. Though unexpected, the spice in the drink was spicing nonetheless, and I thought it was pretty good! I had sipped this one first out of all three, but it ends up last in my overall Refresher ranking. I think the other bevs do a better job at highlighting the fruit – in this one, the strawberry flavors were undoubtedly eclipsed by the chili spice blend.

I bet it'd be so heavenly if you ordered it blended with ice, so it becomes a nice slushy texture!

Spicy Pineapple Refresher

I was most excited about this new Starbucks drink because in my opinion, pineapple and spice are a classic combo! I've eaten way too much Tajin-covered fruit in my lifetime, and I hoped for this drink to directly emulate those flavors! And y'all, it DELIVERED.

The drink is literally gorgeous. With the spice blend, the Pineapple Refresher takes on a orange-y hue, while the pieces of pineapple float at the top. Upon first sip, it tastes exactly like Tajin-covered fruit. I did notice that a lot of the spice blend sunk to the bottom of my cup, so I had to keep shaking it to mix it up. Not a big tradeoff though, for how deliciously fruity this drink is.

Spicy Cream Cold Foam

Starbucks is also offering Spicy Cream Cold Foam for a limited time. It's crafted with Starbucks classic cold foam and their new Spicy Chili Powder Blend, and you can add it to any iced drink!

I tried the Spicy Cream Cold Foam atop an iced mocha. I had a vision, okay?! I really wanted the chili and chocolate to blend together for a tasty Mexican chocolate feel. I admired the specks of spice in the cold foam before sipping down a swig.

My first impression was that the spice isn't as intense in the cold foam as it is with the Refreshers – it honestly made the drink more enjoyable. The chocolate in the mocha made it so tasty, balancing everything out with lots of sweetness. I think the Spicy Cream Cold Foam could be an amazing addition to other sweet coffee drinks like these for those seeking coffee-based bevs.

My Review Of Starbucks Spicy Refreshers

Photos by Meredith Holser

Because of the intensity of the spice, I also think the new Spicy Refreshers work best as a slow sipper. I found that when I drank them quickly, the spice became overpowering, and honestly, unenjoyable after a time. I still need to try the Refreshers with alcohol, but I think adding a lil' splash of tequila for an easy summer cocktail is the move. I could take to the park or a friend's place on a nice weekend. 👀 I can tell these are gonna keep me up and goin’ through summer!

What People Are Saying About The Spicy Starbucks Refreshers

In the wake of brand-new spicy drinks at Starbucks, some customers were thrown off by the initial menu rumors that @markie_devo posted.

"🤮 Kinda takes away the “refreshing” aspect lol," one person wrote. "But I guess people who like spicy stuff on fruit will be happy."

One Starbucks barista commented on the validity of the menu rumors, saying: "As someone who works at Starbucks, this isn’t fake, we got our chili powder in already 😃"
