This New Line of Nontraditional Wedding Gowns Will Make You Drool

If there’s one wedding trend we’ve seen movement toward, it’s definitely the low-key, modern bride, which often means nontraditional wedding dresses. If this is you, there’s one more line to look out for.

Hang Chong, a graduate of the prestigious London fashion school Central Saint Martin’s, struck out on his own in 2013 with his contemporary brand Self Portrait. The cocktail frocks were an instant hit with everyone from Reese Witherspoon to Kristen Stewart.

Now, for spring/summer 2016, Chong’s going bridal in the most low-key way possible. His nontraditional line of gowns includes six stunners inspired by the likes of model/photographer Pattie Boyd and Studio 54 queen Bianca Jagger. The gowns are in traditional whites and creams and have touches such as traditional Victorian collars and lace, but feel anything but traditional thanks to Chong’s rock’n’roll spin with cool hemlines and an off-the-shoulder option.

While the dresses aren’t cheap ($1,020 to $1,500), they’re certainly less expensive than the dresses a lot of women go for these days in the $3,000+ range. “Women spend so much money on a dress they’ll wear once,” Chong says, “but I wanted to create a dress they can wear again and again.”

Sold! The dresses are so pretty you could totally wear them to a dressy summer party, or even as a more casual rehearsal dinner option. If you’re a laid-back kind of gal but think you’re close to getting engaged, this is definitely one to bookmark.
