All the Real Housewives shows have had some major fashion moments, and The Real Housewives of New York is no exception. One of the most fashionable women on the show is, of course, Carole Radziwill. The 51-year-old stands out against her fellow Housewives as the pinnacle of effortless chic in her laid-back jeans, boots, leather jackets and tiny little dresses. She is like Carrie Bradshaw meets rocker chic.

We caught up with the always fashionable writer at the B Floral party last week in NYC, which she co-hosted, and asked her about her style strategy. For those of you who have tried a capsule wardrobe, it might be a philosophy you’re familiar with.

No, not a condensed wardrobe, but close: a fashion uniform. “Because I don’t have an office job I don’t have that kind of wardrobe, but I still like to have a uniform,” Radziwill explained. “It used to be always like a great pair of jeans, boots, t-shirt and a sweater, but now I have substituted jeans with leather pants because I think they are making so many great kinds of leather pants.”

In fact, Radziwill has nearly 2000 pairs of leather pants. Most of them are black, but she has pairs in gray, red, white and burgundy too. “That’s my go-to thing with a gray sweater or blazer,” she said. “I think it is a little more polished than jeans, but at the end of the day, I’m a jeans girl. I also like long skirts in the day with boots and short skirts at night. The key is just wear whatever you feel beautiful in.”

As for what is happening on season eight of Real Housewives, which debuted last week, Radziwill — who is known for being one of the calmer ladies on the show — says we can “expect to see drama that you would see in any group of close friends that would spend a lot of time together. There’s boys and there’s parties and too much drinking. It’s really the issues that we deal with this season that a lot of women and their girlfriends deal with, like boyfriend issues, marriage troubles, medical issues, etc. But it’s a lot of drinking, a lot of fun, a lot of laughs.” Sounds like it will be a great season… and we’ll look out for that style uniform.
