The 2017 Emmys gave us all kinds of unexpected moments, from Stephen Colbert’s musical opening to Sean Spicer’s cameo to Jackie Hoffman’s reaction to losing to Laura Dern. But one of the sweetest surprises was Hilarie Burton and Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s baby news.
Burton’s former One Tree Hill costar Barbara Alyn Woods (who you’ll remember as Nathan’s mom, Deb) confirmed to Us Weekly that the stars are expecting their second child together. According to the site, she bumped into the happy couple at last night’s event and was told by the proud papa himself that another little one is indeed on the way. Morgan’s rep also confirmed the pregnancy to E! News.
But there was really no doubt of it after their appearance on the red carpet. The couple looked utterly in love as they posed for photos before the Emmys, Burton in a gorgeous burnt orange gown and Morgan in a velvet tux. At one point, the White Collar actress cradled her bump and the Walking Dead actor gave her stomach an affectionate, telling pat.
And if that wasn’t enough, the beaming smiles on their faces said it all.
Dating since 2009 and married back in 2014, Burton and Morgan are already parents of seven-year-old Augustus. And while the famously private pair probably won’t share many (if any) details about their new little one, Morgan did tell Parade back in 2012 that Gus is his mini-me. “I know everyone thinks that their kid is the greatest, but I’m telling you right now that my kid is,” he said at the time. “We named him after the character Robert Duvall plays in the miniseries Lonesome Dove.”
Congratulations to the growing family!
