Natasha Rothwell Finally Explained Belinda's Shocking 'The White Lotus' Season 3 Ending

In The White Lotus season 3, fan-favorite Belinda returns in a completely different headspace. The spa manager we met in season 1—who was left emotionally stranded by Tanya’s false promises—has grown into someone fiercely protective of her boundaries and self-worth, no longer willing to sacrifice her peace to please others or play a supporting role in someone else’s story.
And now? Natasha Rothwell's ready to speak up for her character. In an episode of Variety's "Actors on Actors" series, Rothwell opened up to Sterling K. Brown about how she really feels when it comes to where Belinda stands at the end of season 3's jaw-dropping finale. Here's what she said!

Season 1 ended with a hint that Greg was complicit in Tanya’s death. Season 3 picks up that thread, revealing that Greg (aka "Gary"), played by Jon Gries, has settled in Thailand to evade authorities. When Belinda recognizes him at the Thai resort, she’s understandably shaken. She fears for her safety, but her son encourages her to see the situation as a rare opportunity. Eventually, Greg offers Belinda a massive payout, which she accepts.

Earlier in the season, Belinda connected with Pornchai (played by Dom Hetrakul), the resort’s spa and wellness therapist. He served as a mentor to her, teaching advanced massage techniques she could take home. Their professional bond slowly blossomed into a harmonious connection built on mutual respect and emotional vulnerability.
Then, they even began planning to open a spa business together—something that felt both restorative and empowering for Belinda, who had long been undervalued in her field. Pornchai believed in her vision, and for a moment, it seemed like Belinda had found both a partner and a purpose.

But everything shifted after Belinda received the hush money from Greg. She scrapped the spa plan and walked away from Pornchai, leaving him confused and conflicted, unsure of where things had gone wrong.
"That pisses me off," Natasha Rothwell, who plays Belinda, said in an interview.
"People are just like, 'Oh, you just left Pornchai on the side of the road.' She f----- the dude one night. She had a one-night stand. She owed him nothing. Belinda had an opportunity to betray herself again, but no. Circumstances changed."

Rothwell referred to the windfall Belinda received as "investment money"—not a gift, but a symbol of her own liberation. Belinda’s storyline this latest season explores self-worth, boundaries, and emotional availability in a much deeper way than her more transactional arc in season 1.
Her relationship with Pornchai was definitely a major storyline for Belinda’s character in terms of emotional reawakening and rediscovery. Even though their relationship seemed built on a solid foundation, the season ends with Belinda walking away. And when she tells Pornchai, “Circumstances have changed,” it’s not about rejection—it’s about choosing herself.

Rothwell explained that neither character owed the other anything, saying, “Belinda does not owe anyone her body, her time, or her love.”
There’s a clear theme at play—emotional labor vs. emotional freedom. In other words, Belinda isn’t heartless; she’s just finally learning to be whole on her own. Now, let's see how this all comes to be for our beloved Belinda in season 4...
