When Netflix announced their new Anne of Green Gables remake, we couldn’t wait to meet the young actress who would be taking on the iconic role, as well as wonder where the cast of the original Anne of Green Gables is these days. Now, a new teaser has been released, and it proves that EVERYONE is excited about Anne’s return.
With the 15-year-old Canadian-Irish actress Amybeth McNulty becoming the beloved Anne Shirley, she’s matched with veteran actors Geraldine James and RH Thomson, who will be playing Martha and Matthew Cuthbert. Together, they’ll bring us back to Prince Edward Island and the picturesque (yet drama-filled) world of Green Gables.
With the new show promising to stay true to LM Montgomery’s classic story, it will also take on totally relevant topics and themes such as identity, feminism, bullying and prejudice.
Get ready to binge the full series when it hits Netflix on Friday, May 12, but until then, check out the new teaser below — featuring Ellie Kemper’s Kimmy Schmidt, OITNB‘s Red and Barb from Stranger Things — and be reminded that, as Anne says, “It’s so easy to fall in love with Green Gables.”
