Disney Pledges to Donate $1M to the Victims of the Orlando Tragedy
When a tragedy strikes like the one that shocked and horrified the nation just days again in Orlando, responses from celebrities and companies alike can help make a terrible time a little easier on those who are suffering the most. With JetBlue stepping up by offering free flights and fee waivers for family of victims, now Disney has announced that they, too, will be doing their part to help those affected begin to heal.
The company that makes dreams come true will be making a $1 million donation to the OneOrlando Fund, which has been set up to support the non-profits who will be helping the families affected by this tragedy through this difficult time. Disney will also be matching every dollar donated by their employees, bringing their total donation over the million-dollar mark.
Bob Chapek, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts said, “We are heartbroken by this tragedy and hope our commitment will help those in the community affected by this senseless act. With 74,000 Cast Members who call Orlando home, we mourn the loss of the victims and offer our condolences to their families, friends and loved ones.”
While JetBlue will be providing free flights for the families, Walt Disney World Resort will be offering complimentary accommodations for families and friends of the victims.
While this surely can’t mend the heartache and loss, it shows how deeply the entire country truly cares. Well done, Disney!
