Harry Styles Threw the Most Memorable Twitter Shade of 2016 at Taylor Swift
Despite her famous #girlsquad-lovin’ ways and friend-to-the-max status among those who count her among their besties (not to mention her over-the-top charitable donations), Taylor Swift just can’t seem to keep on pleasant terms with plenty of folks in Hollywood. Kim + Kanye, Nicki Minaj, Demi Lovato, Katy Perry and Justin Bieber have ALL been caught up in very public feuds with Tay. But it’s actually Harry Styles who wins when it comes to the ultimate Twitter shade thrown Taylor’s way in 2016. And that’s not just our opinion, it’s actually an official Twitter fact.
These days, when we think of Taylor’s (er, failed) relationships, we immediately think of Calvin Harris and Tom Hiddleston. However, for a short time in 2012, Harry Styles was the man by Swift’s side.
Fans became obsessed with the pair after a pic of the two strolling around Central Park popped up on social media. But, alas, it wasn’t meant to be — and though the sitch has been pretty much left in the past, Harry decided to reflect upon it while sending out a message on his birthday this year.
I don't know about you, but I'm feeling 22.
— Harry Styles. (@Harry_Styles) February 1, 2016
“I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling 22.” Simple enough, yet has total shade potential when you realize that the line is from Taylor’s song “22.”
Fans were all over it and made it the most retweeted message of 2016 — i.e. over 700,000 RTs and almost 1 million likes. Ouch. Sorry, Taylor! And sorry to everyone else currently feuding with the “Bad Blood” singer, because it looks like Harry currently holds the #1 spot when it comes to shading Tay.
